Mondo Lugosi (1987)

Like many compilation videos from the 80s, this here was much more needed back then and when viewed today you can't help but just be a little bored. This "documentary" clocks in at just under an hour and it really doesn't tell you anything about Lugosi but instead it just shows you trailers to his movies. Dracula, THE INVISIBLE RAY, FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLF MAN, MARK OF THE VAMPIRE, MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE, THE WOLF MAN and THE BODY SNATCHER are just a few of the trailers shown. Also shown are a couple complete shorts (HOLLYWOOD ON PARADE, INTIMATE INTERVIEWS: BELA LUGOSI), which were highly wanted items when this here was first released. I remember owning this video and I watched it quite often because at the time many of these films weren't on VHS. The only way to see the clips were by watching this video and with that in mind, this thing served a purpose back in the way. Watching the film today it's harder to get fully into it simply because everything here is so widely available and in better quality. Still, die-hard Lugosi fans or those who enjoy trailers should get a small kick out of it.
