John Henson, the 48-year-old son of late Muppets genius Jim Henson, died of a "sudden massive heart attack" on Friday.
Henson's death was confirmed by The Jim Henson Company on Saturday, which posted the news of his passing to the company's official Facebook page.
Henson, like his father, Jim, and mother, Jane, was a puppeteer. His credits include work on "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz," "It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie," "Muppets From Space," and "Muppet Treasure Island." He was best known for being puppeteer behind the larger-than-life character "Sweetums."
Henson is survived by daughters Katrina and Sydney, and wife Gyongyi, as well as siblings Lisa, Cheryl, Brian, and Heather. A private service is currently being planned.

We’ve scanned the UK TV schedules over the next fortnight and circled a few new Christmas programmes you may enjoy…
Despite this being the time of year when television repeats aren't just tolerated, but welcome (if at no point in the next fortnight does Dermot Morgan get lost in a department store underwear aisle, or a snowman ride a motorbike through a Sussex field, then it just won't feel like Christmas), we've gone for brand new shows in the list below.
There's a selection of new drama, comedy and a few other bits and pieces you may wish to circle in your festive TV listings magazine... Merry Christmas.
Drama Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor
What is it? It's Doctor Who. Do you need to know anything else?
What’s this one about? This one-hour special is Matt Smith's farewell episode as the Doctor,...

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, December 18, 2012. NBC's "The Voice" enjoyed its top-rated finale to date and helped the network dominate Tuesday night among young viewers, but CBS' usual "NCIS" and "NCIS: Los Angeles" double-bill still ruled overall. The other three networks barely registered at all, though The CW's "It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie" helped the network outdraw its normal Tuesday audience. Among adults 18-49, NBC averaged a 4.0 rating, far ahead of CBS' 2.6 rating for Tuesday night in the key demographic. ABC's 1.4 key demo rating beat the 0.8 rating for Fox and...

NBC got some early holiday cheer last week as the game show Deal or No Deal wrapped its five-night run with double-digit ratings improvements in the crucial 8 p.m. hour, where the peacock has lagged the most so far this season. Deal finished out its run Friday with an average of 11.7 million viewers and a 3.7 rating/13 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. That marked NBC's best numbers in the 8 p.m. Friday berth (excluding Olympic telecasts) in more than three years, since the November 2002 premiere of It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie; it also qualified as the highest nonsports 18-49 demo score on any network in more than two years, since the September 2003 debut of the now-canceled CBS drama Joan of Arcadia.
