No mystery, but confusion instead
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: the Disturbing Gift for Marriage.
Sometimes the literal translation is: The Disturbing Bridal Gift, as seen on some DVD cover (Pirated copy, of course). However, such translation is not accurate because in Chinese culture, the bridal gift is the gift given the parents of the woman by the family of the man before the engagement, and marriage gifts are the actual gifts exchanged between the woman and the man themselves after both families OKed the engagement. This is the only thing the movie was able to make it clear and everything else in the movie appeared to be in chaos.
