One of the best short films ever

Any true Adam Sandler fan knows about his former pet dog Meatball. It was only a matter of time before Sandler would put Meatball in front of the camera and in 2002 he did with this short film that played in front of Sandler's forgettable animated film EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS (it can be found in the special feature section of the EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS DVD). Although the short is only two minutes in the length, it is highly amusing throughout. However, the short is not quite as funny as it could have been due to its PG rating (think Mr. Beefy's antics in LITTLE NICKY). Director and editor Nicholaus Goosen went on to make his feature film debut directing the Sandler produced GRANDMA'S BOY. 8/10

Funny and engaging

This film was shown right before Eight Crazy Nights, and this proved to be the best part of that rather dreadful experience. We get to see Adam Sandler's beloved dog Meatball go through a day without his scene staling master. What the audience gets is a lovable lout of a dog trying to make good in a world of men. Funny and heartwarming, it's too bad it wasn't longer so it could have taken the sting away from watching Eight Crazy Nights.
