Cheapo Category III flick

HUNTING EVIL SPIRIT is a late-stage Category III film of the kind they didn't make many of anymore after the 1997 handover. It stars the ubiquitous Charlie Cho as a typically sleazy businessman who has his eyes on fashion designer Pauline Chan; unfortunately for him, she's already got a boyfriend. He visits an evil wizard, as you do, and the story goes from here. This one's inspired by old Shaw flicks like BLACK MAGIC but is handled in a very cheap and altogether lacklustre fashion, with little story and incident until the lively climax. The special effects are limited and the horror content limited to one or two bloody moments. For the rest this is a film that focuses on lengthy and explicit sex scenes to pad out the running time, and it becomes quite the bore as a result.
