American Pie star Thomas Ian Nicholas has sold his directorial debut, LA DJ, for theatrical and DVD release in a unique deal that encompasses a cross-country tour and promotional partnership with popular Internet site Friendster.com. DVD rights for the film have sold to Santa Monica-based Terra Entertainment, with theatrical distribution going to Enterprise Entertainment Inc. LA DJ will roll out in platform release via Enterprise starting in Los Angeles and New York, with Terra's DVD rollout to follow. The project -- partially financed through private investors and out of Nicholas' own pocket -- revolves around two talented brothers, Tim and Thom (Nicholas and his brother Tim Scarne), who live in a small town and dream of becoming famous club DJs. They go to Los Angeles to pursue their dream, only to wind up working at bar mitzvahs.
