Warning: Spoilers
I own the game my self on PS and its an very good game. The graphics are maybe decent, but the levels, bosses and characters are great. Its some times a little bit to difficult, but the unlimited lives solves that problem. the ending *warning spoiler* where you have to kill sumocide is very great detailed, and because its the end boss you'll have to hit him like eighty times. The sound in the game is also good, lots of music you have in the game. its an very good game. The only thing that decent is that you cannot buy it anymore. so, if you wanna have it, you just got to go to Amazon or yahoo ands if your luck you can buy it. because its the best game i ever played of PS.

Wacky Commandos

This is an honorable mention in beat em ups in my book, this is also another childhood gem game that I played. This game is another of Capcom's entries in the beat em up genre, one of my favorite companies never did disappoint in putting out quality beat em ups at the time and this is one of them. It's true this is a game that doesn't reinvent the wheel but it's in its execution that makes it stand out and throughout the years this game has a cult following.

Not much to say for the plotline as it's pretty much the typical comic book plot where you along with a group of superheroes have to save the world from some evil force that wants to take over. That's it in a nutshell, plot and story really aren't important in these beat em ups as by their nature they just a clothesline, your just in this game for one thing action and action only.

Really like the graphical presentation as it's pretty much the usual Capcom animation in top notch form. I really like how colorful everything in the game is along with the designs of the good and bad guys, along with some of the effects which all add to the comic book goodness.

Music is decent, this game doesn't really have any tracks I would download onto my iPod or Tablet but still the tracks are serviceable for the game all the same. Though I feel it's really the sound the really carries the game out, from the pounding of fists down to the explosions those are music to my ears and just feels like an impact is actually made.

Gameplay is solid, it's the kind that you've seen from "Final Fight" along with many other beat em ups utilizing the same technique, but nothing wrong with that as an old saying goes "if it's not broke don't fix it". I really like the pacing as it's fast and fluid, really like how you can just after clearing out one sector of the level you just immediately go to the other. In a way sort of helps give the game that comic book feels much like when you read the comics where you just go from panel to panel; where in those panels you see as soon as the heroes are done with one set of business there is another kind on business to deal with someplace else throughout their battle.

I like the designs of the bosses and villains. The villains are all colorful as each of the evil army that comes at you are all unique and different from each level you go to. From the endless amount of creepy gas masked foot soldier wanabes, cavemen, mutants, monsters, aliens, ninjas, giant mutant samurai, robots, etc. It's all just a corn of copia of all the bad which makes it all that much good and keeps the game fresh as you never know who the next bad batch you have to contend with is.

Bosses are also cool as their all well designed and unique. From one that's a green haired mutant in a toxic waste suit that shoots harpoons, another that's looks almost like the Marvel Comic character "Man Thing", and many more. The fights with them are moderately difficult as each have different abilities so they're not total pushovers. Though they can come off a bit cheaply difficult sometimes but it's an arcade game what do you expect. There are also one or two bonus levels which are fun, mainly one where you're surfing and shooting as many barrels in your way to collect points and other goodies.

I even like the good guys you play, yes these are the superheroes that aren't from the DC or Marvel universe, surprised Capcom never made a Justice League or Avengers beat em up so this game is probably the closest we'll get to them. This actually is a good thing because here they get creative freedom to create their own superheroes/super team and each of them don't disappoint as each of the characters are colorfully unique and have their strength's and weakness.

Two favorites of mine are of course Captain Commando and Ginzo. Don't get me wrong the other two are fun to play in their own way but I just like these two the best as their the most balanced, let alone Ginzo is a ninja which are always my favorite kind of warrior and is armed with a katana throughout the whole game. Each of them has their unique set of combos and moves. Both are equipped with a major move/superpower which can cut down the odds even do major damage to the boss. But there is a hitch when you used your power you will be drained of a certain number of lives.

One of the highlights of the game are in the weapons, I really love the vast variety you have. One of my favorites is the rocket launcher, this weapon is made for point blank range which gives you a stronger defense. It's just really cool being able to get the bad guys bunched up and the blowing them away with it, killing a whole flock of birds with just one missile. But also, you have some mechs to ride which are cool as each of them have different functions, one that delivers stronger punches and fists and another which can shoot out napalm flame. But both these things have limited use so use them wisely.

I think what I like about this game is just the overall over the top crazy nature of the whole game. This game really doesn't take itself seriously and is simply just brain numbing fun as you are fighting all of these colorful crazy villains and the adventure your on. Down to all the action which is really violent and the number of explosions that are more numerous than a "Power Rangers" episode; all in good fun which is most of the time all I really need from a beat em up.

This is a vintage beat em up that's wacky fun.

Rating: 3 and a half stars.

Even for 1991 this feels dated
I'm not sure where to begin moaning about Captain Commando. For an arcade game the graphics are nothing that the Mega Drive couldn't produce, and the gameplay is fairly boring.

A side-scrolling beat-em-up featuring 4 playable characters (including a baby in a mech suit!) in which you fight your way through various levels, some of them eye-catching and fun, and face-off against some bully boss is hardly the most unique concept, but they could have made it a bit more enjoyable to play. The lead character was a mascot for the developer who would often appear to promote more popular and better games such as Strider and Ghouls and Ghosts. I wasn't smitten by him, but he's the best character to play as for the duration.

There are some cool power-ups including machine guns, pistons, laser guns etc, but you never really get a chance to use them as the controls are so sluggish you'll barely get off one lucky shot before a bad guys smashes you and it falls from your hand. Same goes for the mech suits, you'll spend all of two seconds in there before being punched off. What's the point?

I can't imagine anything ever dragging me back to Captain Commando. There are many other better beat-em-ups out there
