Sex & Nudity

  • A blue AI is visibly nude but no explicit nudity such as nipples, genetalia or buttocks are shown. There is no actual sexual content or nudity in this game or any other Halo games.
  • Like all Halo games there is no sex, not even sex references maybe some minor innuendos you'd hear in a G/PG rated film like Johnson saying "I know what the ladies like" as he mans a turret. Nothing beyond that, sexual content is pretty much non existent in the Halo games. Cortana has a slim body and is presumably nude but even then her buttocks, genitalia and breasts are completely covered as she is a hologram.
  • Early in the game, a male alien is stripped naked. No genitals or other intimate details are visible on him, and this scene is not sexual in any context whatsoever.

Violence & Gore

  • This game is very similar to the one that came before it but because of the improved graphics it makes the combat more violent.
  • An alien is shot in the head, blood splatters everywhere. You kill a few humans as the arbiter, there is blood. You bleed when shot and when a human dies they bleed very badly with blood surrounding them. Aliens bleed even more. Sometimes you can find human limbs and alien limbs.
  • Humans and Covenant and bleed large puddles of blood when shot, even the player themselves will bleed large puddles when their armor is depleted. Definitely Mature rated violence.
  • The Flood bleed large puddles of green blood and will limbs will fly out in the air when they get blown up by grenades. It might not be as shocking for today.
  • In the Gravemind level intro cutscene, the Gravemind is made of decomposed flesh, with melted skulls on it, which is very unsettling. Regret is later shown in the cutscene for a short duration, with him being reanimated after his death in the Regret level, and his entire body attached to one of the Gravemind's tentacles. Very disturbing.
  • The multiplayer isn't as brutal as the campaign but you fight human enemies. Keep in mind Halo 2's multiplayer isn't as brutal as Halo 1, 3, Reach, 4 and 5 due to no assassinations or flamethrowers.
  • Strong T rated violence.
  • Halo 2 is pretty much a war game where you kill countless aliens with rifles, snipers, rocket launchers as well as alien weaponry. For modern standards, it might not be as violent as it used to be.

Profanity

  • Hell, damn, bitch, ass, shit, bastard.
  • This contains the most language of any Halo game but is kept well within the PG-13 range. No strong vulgarity whatsoever neither in the original or anniversary edition.
  • Some mild language nothing severe usually language you would hear in T games
  • Uses of Mother*
  • The humans and covenant often uses racist comments to one another, like "I heard that where you come from, you taste like chicken" "Take of the mask, you can't be that ugly" "Covenant mother*" "Demons" and the list goes on. This is used in battles, especially by the humans.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Staff Sergeant Johnson is mostly seen smoking a cigar and holding it several times.
  • Some cigars can be found in a room in Cairo Station during the Covenant's attack.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The flood may disturb younger players however 12 and above would more than likely not be offended. The flood are more disturbing in the Halo lore with books and animations however in the game it isn't went into as much. They're nowhere near as disturbing as the necromorphs from Dead Space, the zombies from Half Life or the disfigured creatures from the Silent Hill games.
  • Rated PG-13 for strong violence, disturbing images and some language.
  • The idea of The Covenant activating the rings to destroy all life in the galaxy may be frightening.
  • The Flood may appear scary to younger and even older players. The levels they're in are very dark and gritty.
