Saved from the Flames

This French musical number was apparently found amongst a pile of rubbish a day or so before it was due to be burned which, in a way, is reason enough to give it a viewing. It's only three minutes long and is quite an entertaining piece of work. Gregor is quite a splendid chap with a small head, a beakish nose and a little scrap of a moustache. He was something of a rogue in real life apparently, and is certainly a flamboyant character. The short musical numbers his band play are entertaining enough and tinged with comedy - one member dances around in a tutu at one point. And if the middle violinist looks a little familiar it's because he's the world famous Stephane Grapelli...
