Australia short film fest reveals 16 finalists.
Tropfest 2014 (Dec 7) has announced 16 finalists for this year’s festival held in Sydney.
Local actors to appear in films include Steve Vizard, Pia Miranda, Roy Billing and Cassandra Magrath.
The judges will pick the winner live on the Festival Night, with the first prize-winning filmmaker taking home a Toyota, $10,000 cash, a trip to Los Angeles for a week of meetings with film executives (courtesy of Motion Picture Association and the Australian Screen Association), a Nikon D810 and Dslr camera and $2,000 Rrp worth of Nikkor lenses and accessories.
“It’s been twenty three years since Tropfest first began and every year the films entered into the competition remind me of why I started this in the first place - to raise the profile of creative filmmakers and to share stories that, without this platform, might not otherwise be told,” said Tropfest founder and director John Polson.

The troubled 'Teen Mom 2' star and her new fiancé tied the knot in a quick courthouse wedding on Dec. 4! Read on for all the details. Though she only announced her engagement on Nov. 19, Jenelle Evans married new fiancé Courtland Rogers on Tuesday, Dec. 4 in a North Carolina courthouse, according to RadarOnline! Jenelle's sister Ashleigh Evans Wilson, whom Jenelle is taking to court, broke the news to the website. "My sister got married this morning, it was a shotgun courthouse wedding. My mother was totally shocked and had to hear it from someone else. Our whole family is shocked because they have not been dating for very long." Ashleigh, who believes Jenelle, 20, did this to distract from recent drug accusations, continued, "At this point, after all that she has been through, she should know better than this." Could Courtland's Legal Troubles Be The Cause For The Shotgun Wedding?...

The Good
We kick things off this month mid-Siege with Avengers Initiative #33, the book takes place at the same time as last month’s Siege #2 and offers a different perspective on the action at Asgard through the eyes of Diamondback, Taskmaster and Constrictor. At the same time we see action at Camp H.A.M.M.E.R., with New Warriors’ Night Thrasher forced to make a difficult decision (one that ties in to the short-lived recent New Warriors run) that could cost the heroes dearly.

Have you heard the Plastic Beach yet? Isn’t it brilliant? It’s beautifully consistent, which is something the whole Gorillaz project has been gravitating towards since their first record, which was a collision of the various styles that Damon Albarn was noodling with since he got bored with Britpop. Plastic Beach strives for one mostly uniform style — melancholy electro hip-hop — which is a bit of a continuation of Blur’s Think Tank. Damon even does a bit of rapping on that record, too. It also helps that he fills the album with artists I enjoy like Gruff Rhys, Mos Def, Lou Reed and De La Soul.
So welcome to This Week in Comics, where I can totally talk about Gorillaz because of the Tank Girl connection…Not that I needed an excuse.

From Splash Page: Next year's big-screen reboot of the "A-Team" will be one of many films receiving some attention from the comic book world in advance of its arrival in theaters. Idw Publishing will be launching not one, but two series following Hannibal, B.A. Baracus and the rest of their mercenary crew.
Titled "The A-Team: Shotgun Wedding" and "The A-Team: War Stories," the two series will not only feature the beloved television series' characters (in the likenesses of the new actors playing them), but also offer up some brand new stories of their adventures.
Idw has offered Splash Page readers the first peek at some early art from "The A-Team: Shotgun Wedding," written by Joe Carnahan and Tom Waltz with art from Stephen Mooney — including the ridiculously cool covers to the first and second issues, as well as several inked pages.
(Oh, and is that a Sarah Palin cameo we see?...

The Broken Lizard guys, the comedy troupe behind the movies Super Troopers, Beerfest and the upcoming The Slammin' Salmon, have never exactly been on the cutting edge of comedy, but they've never resorted to straight-up knockoffs before either. I'd like to give director Jay Chandrasekhar the benefit of the doubt as he goes forward with his new film Shotgun Wedding, but it really doesn't sound like anything more than a Hangover knockoff. Here's the premise: a guy who swore he would never get married gathers his friends together for a weekend wedding trip. Sure, it's slightly altered from the basic Hangover premise, but it's impossible not to draw a connection between a hit comedy and another movie that might want to ride its coattails. According to Variety Chandrasekhar co-wrote the script with David Gilcreast, a guy with no other credits to his name. Does that mean that Chandraesekhar is diverting...

Jay Chandrasekhar, of Broken Lizard, has made a decent name for himself as a cult comedy director. After he had the hilarious Super Troopers under his belt (we'll just ignore Club Dread out of courtesy), he made the jump to a more mainstream comedy in the 2005 bland and uninspired Dukes of Hazzard. Luckily he followed it up with another worthy cult comedy in Beerfest. As of late, Chandrasekhar has spent a lot of time as a gun for hire directing episodes for Universal television series like "Psych" and "Chuck." Variety now reports his return to features directing Shotgun Wedding, comedy he co-wrote with David Gilcreast. The low budget comedy follows the traveling antics of a bachelor when he asks his friends to join him on a weekend trip for his wedding (uh oh, sounds like The Hangover). Aside from the story details, I'm sure we can expect that Chandrasekhar ...

Gina Carano is pretty hot stuff, and after a brief stint on TV throwing overweight secretaries and grandmas around as a fake Gladiator and small roles in direct-to-dvd action movies, she’s now ready for her Hollywood close-up. The Mma fighter will make her feature film debut as a leading lady in Steven Soderbergh’s spy action thriller “Knockout”, which is being described as a cross between a James Bond movie and Luc Besson’s “La Femme Nikita”. Word is, this will be a straightforward action movie by Soderbergh, who has such a good feel about “Knockout’s” box office potential that he’s waved his upfront fee to direct, and will instead take a share in the film, which means if it makes money, he’ll make money. And if it doesn’t, well, there’s always a sequel to “The Girlfriend Experience”, tentatively titled “The Shotgun Wedding Experience...

Apparently, Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen's second wedding in Costa Rica this weekend was a real blast in more ways than one. New York Daily News reports that security guards for the couple allegedly shot at paparazzi who were trying to photograph the ceremony. Photographer Uri Cortez claims that bodyguards opened fire on he and his colleague, Rolando Avila, as they were sneaking back to their car after snapping wedding shots with their telephoto lenses. "I couldn't believe it when I realized what they had done," Cortez notes. A spokesperson for Cortez's photo agency, Inf, says that no one was hurt in the.

Second time's the charm...or, if you're Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, the second time is paradise. Unless you're a paparazzo. The Brazilian bombshell and the Super Bowl-winning quarterback tied the knot a second time at her home in Costa Rica yesterday evening, according to People. But while the picture-perfect couple was cozying up inside with some two dozen family members (including Brady's 18-month-old son, John), their security detail were blasting away at paparazzi outside. The guards fired on two shutterbugs who were caught hiding in bushes outside the Bündchen's villa and who fled after refusing to hand over their film, per the Boston Herald. "No one was...
