Best Cartoon Ever! No wonder its nearly going on 20 years!!!!

This is one of the greatest cartoons ever made! First of all, you have a man made of bread, or "ANPAN" (a bean paste filled muffin-like thingy) he goes around with his friends and gives portions of his own head to poor animals who are in need, saying:"IF you are hungry, eat my face", thus this life-granting face helps bring energy and vitality to whoever eats it. But all is not well, Anpanman naturally has an rival named Baikinman or "bacteria man" who is accompanied by Dokinchan, who is a spoiled brat, but the love of baikinman's life. Baikinman's attempts of stopping Anpanman from anything, whether its doing a play or saving a country, is to get Anpanman's face dirty, or wet by spraying him with a water pistol. Once his head is damaged, he has Ja-mu Ojiisan (Uncle Jam) bake him a new head- then they throw the new head to Anpanman which bumps his old head off and causes it to roll away to somewhere never explained. (i guess its then the ants problem)

Through the series you will meet his friends including Uncle Jam, Aunt Batako,Shokupanman (who has a stunning likeness that of Powdered Toast Man)and his dog Cheese. Everyone and anything is food and they explore many types of food like Tacos, sushi, rice, octopus, natou, cakes, all of which are stolen by Baikinman and Dokinchan.

The show is both campy and entertaining, as well as a little disturbing to American audiences which is why America has yet to pick it up on any network. If you ever have the good fortune of finding copies of this show (and having some knowledge of the Japanese language, as there are little to no copies with subtitles) then you need to watch it- and prepair to become OBSESSED!
