Now the show will turn ever more special for him as he is all set to perform with his father and veteran accordion player Hasmukh Ravjiani. Hasmukh Ravjiani and Shekhar Ravjiani are all set to come together to perform on some of Raj Kapoor’s iconic numbers including ‘Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua’ and ‘Mera Joota Hai Japani’ among others. Shekhar who is extremely excited about it also revealed that in fact, Hasmukh has played the accordion for most of Raj Kapoor’s songs since his music generally had the melody of the instrument. He also took this opportunity to thank his father for giving him the right training in music which has made him one of the most sought after music directors today.

Music videos seem to be the flavour of the season. After Sonam Kapoor- Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff- Disha Patni, Tiger Shroff - Kriti Sanon and Vidyut Jamval - Huma Qureshi, the next duo who will feature in a music video is Ali Fazal and Zarine Khan. In fact the duo has been roped in by music giant T-Series for their next music video with the track 'Pyaar Maanga Hain Tumhee Se'.
While Ali is currently working on wrapping the shoot for Prakash Raj's Tadka in which he's paired opposite Taapsee Pannu, Zarina has been working hard on her new physique. As for the music video, it will recreate the track, 'Pyaar Manga Hai Tumhee Se' from the movie College Girl, which released in 1978. The song, composed by music maestro Bappi Lahiri, had been quite a hit back in the day, and was sung by Kishore Kumar.

Bollywood churns out on average 120 plus films a year, with 2014 reaching 142. So to think all of them will go down in history as being successful is rather naive. But what about the ones we thought would work wonders but came up short? The ones that left us thinking, “Why was this allowed past the editing board”? Even ones that somehow managed to cha-ching the money registers sky high. 2014 had its fair share of films that fit all these categories. BollySpice brings you the biggest disappointments of 2014.
10. Holiday
A.R.Murugadoss blew everyone’s mind when he told a tale of an anterograde amnesia patient desperately seeking revenge for the murder of his girlfriend in Ghajini. Yet when it came to a follow up film, one could say Holiday fell short of all the trimmings to recreate the magic. The writer in Murugadoss failed to see the shortcomings of his story,...

We all know that a Bollywood film is incomplete without a few songs being thrown in with them. It is sort of like bread and butter, you can’t enjoy one without the other. Combining them together makes it all the more delicious. Over the last 100 years of filmmaking, the world has been exposed to some of the most iconic Bollywood numbers that we cannot erase from our minds and consider them to be eternal classics. As part of our mini-feature, BollySpice presents to you 15 songs that have changed Bollywood forever. Enjoy!
1. ‘Aayega Aane Wala’ from Mahal (1949) – Though this song won’t be as well known amongst the younger generation, the song ‘Aayega Aane Wala’ from the chilling film Mahal, is important for one major reason. This song made India’s nightingale Lata Mangeshkar a nationwide superstar and she went on to sing for Bollywood films for another six decades.

It is where hearts meet, auntyjis gossip and kids have a blast. Navratri shin-digs are the ‘it’ get togethers in the Desi calendar every year. It’s a nine day long festive period where everyone joins in daily for a night of song and dance. Apart from being the social get together of the year the festival has a strong religious meaning. It celebrates nine forms of Goddess Durga, one on each night, hence the name nav-nine ratri-nights. The 10th day is the festival of Dashera, marking the ultimate triumph of good over evil in Indian history.
Unlike any other usual festival, navratri songs and dance are specific. They have a distinct beat and the dance form adopted is garba or dandiya. The song and dance routine of the night, garba or dandiya, also have a strong historical backing as depicts the rasa-lila between Lord Krishna and the gopis of Vrindavan.

Memory lane has a special place for our firsts. Each of them represents an age, an era and an experience. From my first tooth to my first bruise, my first day at school to my first belly flop into the pool, they are all there. Some are protected by a forgetful mind but they are there. They make the identity we create in life. For example, a part of my identity is Bollyspice. Like all the writers here at Bollyspice. How does this link to the title? Well, Bollywood’s love affair with first loves and the release of Bombay Talkies is what prompted the title of this piece actually. You see, it’s just like our writer Pooja Rao said in her review of Bombay Talkies, cinema doesn’t just affect the lives of those involved, it affects its audience too. So the writers at Bollyspice bring to you our Pehla Nasha,...

2011 was a year filled with good music and many outstanding song picturizations. In this top fifteen we will acknowledge all the choreographers, art directors, cinematographers, performers and many more who have worked very hard to entertain us.
15. ‘Aap Ke Aa Jaane Se’ – Love Breakups Zindagi
This song is not on the soundtrack of Love Breakups Zindagi. It is actually a renewed version of the same song from the movie Khudgarz from 1987. The song comes at a point in the film when the whole family is together and the youngsters in the family perform to a song in order to entertain the guests. And what better song to perform to on a wedding than ‘Aap Ke Aa Jaane Se’. A huge, disco style stage is set up with lights and all. The choreography is a bit old school and brings back memories of the late 80s and 90s, which is quite...

Just what happens to creativity when it comes to titles? From ongoing TV soaps like .Kuch Toh Log Kahenge. and .Bade Acche Lagte Hain. to the forthcoming .Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuuch Kaha. and .Kya Hua Tera Vaada., it appears that authors expend all their energy in writing scripts and fall back on well-loved film songs for titles.Clearly, Hindi movie songs down the ages are the easy inspiration for a host of television serials with the makers also hoping for instant connect..Kuch Toh Log Kahenge., a hit song picturised on Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna in .Amar Prem., is now the the title of Indian adaptation of the popular Pakistani serial .Dhoop Kinare.. Mohnish Behl and Kritika Kamra are the protagonists in the love story of a 40-plus guy and a 20-something girl. The title of Ekta Kapoor.s .Bade Acche Lagte Hain. is picked up from...

Movie: Ready
Composure: Pritam
Rating: ***
Salman Khan is ‘Ready’ with another bang. The music of the Anees Bazmee directed ‘Ready’ was released recently and the peculiarity of this album is that it has just four tracks (plus four remixes). After the hit music of Wanted and ‘Dabbang’, fans seem to be looking forward to some chart busting music from the maverick actors new film. So does the album deliver? Chakpak?s Brijesh Bharadwaj finds out…
Character Deela from Ready
Track 01 — Character Dheela (Ishq Ke Naam); Singers: Neeraj Shreedhar, Amrita Kak; Lyricist: Amitabh Bhattacharya; Length: 3:47
The first song of the album (an Item number featuring Salman with Zarine Khan) contains all the elements to make it a runaway hit. It has racy beats with good supporting lyrics, and composer Pritam once again proves his mastery in blending English and Hindi lyrics successfully. Lyricist Amitabh Bhatacharya brings us attitude filled lines like ?Farak padta hai kya,...

Salman Khan’s latest song — Character dheela — from his upcoming film Ready, is generating a lot of buzz albeit not for all good reasons. While the song has got appreciation from many quarters, some did notice its striking similarity to Shah Rukh Khan’s song, Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte, from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.In both the songs, the Khans can be seen paying tribute to yesteryears superstars. While Srk took inspiration from Raj Kapoor’s iconic song, Pyaar hua ikraar hua, along with Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor, Salman imitated Raj Kapoor from his film, Shree 420. He also along ...

Now that Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor are starring together in Raju Hirani.s 3 Idiots, after two misses (Mani Ratnam.s Lajjo and Vishal Bhardwaj.s Mr Singh & Mrs Mehta) there is a considerable amount of curiosity about this never-seen-before jodi. We dropped in on the sets at Film City on Thursday to watch the two sizzle in the only romantic song, Zoobi doobi, in the film.Entering the sets wasn.t an easy task because of the tight security. This despite the fact that we had taken the requisite permission on Wednesday to visit the sets. Thankfully, Aamir Khan spotted us after which going on the sets was a cakewalk.Sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal, the rain song has been composed by Shantanu Moitra. Aamir Khan, dressed in a burnt orange shirt and white trousers, was completely wet and gladly showed off his super flat abs.
