Sex & Nudity

  • Most of the film deals with war, love, and intense depression.
  • Two teenage boys often discuss dating and girls, but innocently and never crudely. Also, in many voiceovers, one of the male characters sexpresses his feelings for a girl in the film, but not in an explicitly sexual way. he only mentions how he likes to have her around and how he thinks he loves her.
  • There are many instances in the plot involving love and special feelings towards others, between young adults.
  • An older man is obviously hitting on a younger adult woman, but just by speaking subversively with no innuendo.
  • A girl is shown lying in a bed, asleep, several times throughout the film (as it's important to the plot). It's implied that she has no clothes on, but we see only a bit of her cleavage and no explicit nudity.
  • We see a teenage girl in her bra and panties quickly as she changes, but we don't see any nudity.

Violence & Gore

  • A girl in the film imagines the large tower in the film exploding. A giant fireball is shown and a large wind from the explosion blows near her. However, she reverts back to reality when the bridge she is sitting on breaks. She almost falls into the water below, when a boy saves her. The board breaks and they back fall in. They are not in peril, however, because it was just a simple lake and they walk ashore with no injuries. This is meant to be a light and humorous scene, excluding the imaginary explosion, of course.
  • Two boys playfully wrestle one another in a lake when one pulls the other into the lake against his will.
  • One of the characters is shot in the arm (it isn't fatal), and we see a large amount of blood splatter on the wall behind him.
  • There is lots of talk of war before it actually happens. Terrorist bombings and shootings are discussed quite often.
  • A man grabs a young man who breaks into his house and throws him on the ground, pointing a gun at his head. However, he doesn't shoot because the young man is a friend of the man's.

Profanity

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Two characters smoke cigarettes while having lunch with their friends.
  • A character smokes a cigarette in the passenger seat of a car.
  • A character smokes a cigarette while having dinner at a restaurant. The same character is shown smoking a cigarette later in the film as well.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The short war scenes can be intense and, in one scene, considerably violent (see Violence & Gore section above).

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • A young man pulls a gun on his friend and threatens to kill him. The man points the gun away, and the gun is fired, but no one is shot. The man with the gun then punches his friend and he cries in pain. The man picks the gun up again and points it at his friend's head, but doesn't shoot.
  • There's a war at the end of the film that has lots of mostly non-graphic violence. There're lots of loud turret guns and huge explosions. In one scene, a young man flying a plane flies under a plane that was just shot and has exploded. A large amount of blood and gore hits the plane's windshield and a splatter is heard. The large tower that's the main plot point in the film is destroyed in a large fiery explosion, ending the war and giving the film a happy ending :)

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Two scenes in which guns are aimed at characters heads.
