- ["Blackmail"]
- Mr. Victor Sebastian Boddy: Caveat emptor, Plum: Let the buyer beware.
- Professor Peter Plum: No, Boddy... YOU beware.
- ["Blackmail"]
- Professor Peter Plum: [trying to persuade Mrs. White to help him] All I want you to do, is see if you can find the bank drafts, or the cheques he's going to be handing over on Monday.
- Mrs. Blanche White: And if I find them ? I gave him cash, but you don't care what happens to my money, do you ? Well all I can say is that you deserve everything that's coming to you, for the way you've handled your godson's affairs! So you can do your own DAMN dirty work!
- Professor Peter Plum: [as she leaves] Mrs White - I could go to prison for this!
- Mrs. Blanche White: [comes back, giving him a wrench] There you are, then. That'll open Boddy's desk for you!
- [from the "Blackmail" case]
- Mr. Jonathan Green: Look, there isn't time to explain this to you. You've got to get that money back from Boddy. He signs for the shares on Monday. Then it'll be too late.
- Mrs. Blanche White: But you told us to go in for this! You said Mr Boddy practically guaranteed us a big return on the shares!
- Mr. Jonathan Green: Yes, I know! But Mrs White - that Brewery's almost bankrupt.
- [Mrs. White is horrified]
- Mr. Jonathan Green: Boddy's not even investing in it himself. All he's doing is collecting a fat commission on the money he brings in - he can't lose!
- Mrs. Blanche White: Did you know that the Brewery was in trouble when you told us?
- Mr. Jonathan Green: Yes, I did. I shouldn't be telling you this, but... I'm sorry.
- [from the "Blackmail" case]
- Colonel Mike Mustard: I can't tell you any more. Boddy's going ahead no matter what happens, no matter who gets hurt.
- Mrs. Elizabeth Peacock: For goodness' sake, Michael, this isn't you, skulking about like a common criminal. Tell me what you know!
- Colonel Mike Mustard: Pull out of the Brewery deal now. I know it's going to fail, and so does Boddy.
- Mrs. Elizabeth Peacock: But he's already had my banker's draft. Are you mixed up with him in this, is that how you know...?
- Colonel Mike Mustard: No, I'm not - but I've been warned and I'm waiting for confirmation. Please... don't ask me any more.
- [gets up to leave]
- Mrs. Elizabeth Peacock: He's blackmailing you, isn't he? That's why you can't talk!
- Colonel Mike Mustard: If Boddy goes ahead with this investment, you will lose your money. All of it. And I have far, far more to lose, believe me.
- ["Blackmail"]
- Mrs. Elizabeth Peacock: There is, ah... certain information that is not available to you, Miss Scarlet...
- Miss Vivienne Scarlet: About me and Michael? You know nothing! Do you hear me? Nothing!
- [throws a candlestick at a plate, smashing it, as she leaves]
- ["Deadly Patent"]
- Professor Peter Plum: [holding a box of rubies] You know these rubies are identical to the ones I sent you with the formula. How could you say they aren't, they're exactly the same!
- Mr. Victor Sebastian Boddy: Really, Plum, you are slow on the uptake! Your ideas didn't work in production. Your rubies were a fluke - a one-off, I had to chuck out most of what you did!
- Professor Peter Plum: I gave you my formula and trust, Boddy. You said you could monitor people who were looking over to see who was viable. And - and now you've patented it as your own idea!
- Mr. Victor Sebastian Boddy: You sent me an idea for making synthetic rubies - a marvellous idea. But it didn't work! I developed a formula that did, and that formula is now my patent. It is nothing to do with you, Plum.
- [brandishes a dagger at him]
- Mr. Victor Sebastian Boddy: Now get out before I throw you out!
- Professor Peter Plum: That's right, Boddy, first steal my ideas, and then threaten me - that's about your level, isn't it, eh? Eh? I'll show you what I think of your patent!
- [throws the box against the window, smashing it]
- ["Deadly Patent"]
- Mrs. Blanche White: You see, I helped the Professor write that letter to Mr. Boddy. I typed it for him - the letter with the formula in it. I kept a carbon copy of that letter.
- Mr. Jonathan Green: Where is it? Can I see it?
- Mrs. Blanche White: No you may not see it... but it's safe. I shall choose the time... when it's right to use it.
- ["The Road to Damascus"]
- Mrs. Blanche White: Come to think of it, blaming you might be the right solution for all of us.
- Professor Peter Plum: No - there has to be another way!
- Mrs. Blanche White: Then KILL Mr. Green!
- [giving him a wrench]
- Mrs. Blanche White: He's too dangerous to live...
- ["The Road to Damascus"]
- Mrs. Blanche White: SOMEONE'S going to notice that half the antiques in this place are missing - you've seen to that! And they're gonna blame you... because I'm just a "little old lady, who's been led astray by a wicked comrade." So... you'd better think of something.
- Mr. Jonathan Green: You're not getting out of this!
- Mrs. Blanche White: Oh, shut up, will you! By the time I've finished, nobody is going to believe a word you've said, and I'm not going to prison. Not for you, Mr. Boddy, or ANYone else, and that is a promise.
- Mr. Jonathan Green: What on earth am I supposed to do?
- Mrs. Blanche White: [placing candlesticks in front of him] Well, you can take these to the dining room... for a start. And then if you want to sleep easy in your bed at night... you'd better think of something... hadn't you?
- ["Deadly Patent"]
- Mrs. Blanche White: Oh come on, Professor! What are you, a man or a mouse?
- Professor Peter Plum: Well what am I gonna do?
- Mrs. Blanche White: I don't care what you do!
- [gives him a candlestick]
- Mrs. Blanche White: Brain him if he won't listen! And if you don't...
- [takes a candlestick herself]
- Mrs. Blanche White: I probably will.
- ["Blackmail"]
- Professor Peter Plum: [trying to persuade Mrs. White to help him] All I want you to do, is see if you can find the bank drafts, or the cheques he's going to be handing over on Monday.
- Mrs. Blanche White: And if I can't find them? I gave him cash, but you don't care what happens to my money, do you? Well all I can say is that you deserve everything that's coming to you, for the way you've handled your godson's affairs! So you can do your own DAMN dirty work!
- Professor Peter Plum: [as she leaves] Mrs White - I could go to prison for this!
- Mrs. Blanche White: [comes back, giving him a wrench] There you are, then. That'll open Boddy's desk for you!
- Miss Vivienne Scarlet: ["The Road to Damascus"] You can sneer at me all you want, but I am losing Arlington Hall and my inheritance!
- Mrs. Elizabeth Peacock: You are losing everything because you stole from loan sharks against your inheritance, yes! Didn't you know you're Uncle knew that?
- Mrs. Elizabeth Peacock: [She is slapped by Scarlet and drops her wine glass] My dear, I feel the same way about you, but if we don't pull together then we both go down. Now, is that what you want?
