The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes is unarguably considered one of the most successful shows ever created by Marvel Animation. With a perfectly star-studded cast and a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the series showed the earth’s mightiest superheroes from the comics teaming up to form the Avengers and defeat evil.

But what fans do not know is that this very series would have almost revived one major fan-favorite character from the dead: Peter Parker from The Spectacular Spider-Man series. However, Drake Bell getting cast to voice the friendly neighborhood superhero in Ultimate Spider-Man eventually ended up ruining the plans, leaving fans robbed.

Mark Hamill is one of the most popular actors of this generation, known for portraying the role of Luke Skywalker in the evergreen Star Wars franchise. Following his massive success and popularity in the first three Star Wars films, he transitioned to voice work, contributing to significant projects like Castle In The Sky, A Fuller Life, and Batman: Mask of The Phantasm.

The biographical documentary is a genre that lends itself to a reliable storytelling formula. First, we look back on the origins of the subject; we are introduced to some of the key figures that helped them along the way; we are shown the beginning of their career all the way to the end, and are then left to contemplate their legacy.
Due to the predictability of this format, these documentaries can often come off as by-the-numbers, taking us on a telegraphed emotional journey intended as a crowdpleaser. But every once in a while, there’s a subject who is so unique that their story elevates the formula. Allee Willis is one such subject, with a life story that’s energetic, colorful and invigorating to witness. Director Alexis Manya Spraic crafts a documentary that strives to be just as fascinating as its subject.

The Doctor is back in every sense of the word.
During Doctor Who's classic run, the Doctor often approached new adventures with child-like curiosity. But the 2005 reboot offered a darker, more depressed Doctor who had become worn down by the Time War and the companions he couldn't save.
Not anymore. Disney+ has just released a new trailer for Doctor Who Season 14, and it suggests that Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor will be a larger-than-life character who approaches life with confidence and a sense of fun.
The Christmas special already introduced the newer, more lighthearted version of the Doctor, including him and Ruby Sunday singing a show tune to distract some evil goblins that wanted to eat Ruby's new foster sister.
It was campy as hell, but that was what Doctor Who needed. Season 14 will pick up where the special left off and combine humor and fun with more serious undertones.

The Helldivers 2 community continues the good fight for unfettered liberty throughout the galaxy. The latest Cutting Edge Warbonds content update adds an arsenal of new weapons and, crucially, mechs to aid our brave fighters in eliminating the invasive Terminids and Automatons.
However, a fearful new alien race dubbed the Illuminate, returning from the first Helldivers game, may be on the verge of entering the galactic war and tipping the odds against the freedom fighters. A recent suggestion for an amusing new stratagem may level the playing field against the forthcoming enemies.
Helldivers 2 Fighters Report Blue Beam Annihilation
Helldivers 2 players have been reporting instances of being struck down with strange blue beams raining down on battlefields. These blue beams attack both friend and foe with cold indifference. The leading theory at the moment is that these bizarre attacks tease the return of the Illuminate, a telepathic enemy faction from the first Helldivers game.

The Pitch: The debate about the dangers of artificial intelligence rages on, with bots that become racist and sexist on social media and the Boston Dynamics videos that scare the crap out of most of us. From "The Matrix" to "The Terminator," we're all preparing ourselves for the inevitable singularity when robots take over the world. We don't treat them well, and it wouldn't be surprising if, down the line, we get a Disney+ show about the "Star Wars" droids getting sick of being treated like crap by everyone but a few people in a galaxy far, far away and revolt. It's terrifying, and it's probably going to happen sooner or later.

While the idea of Michael Rooker joining James Gunn's Suicide Squad sequel made sense, it wasn't true.
In news that would have surprised precisely no one on this big revolving rock we call "Earth" (when we're in a good mood), Michael Rooker was reportedly up for a role in James Gunn's Suicide Squad sequel, The Suicide Squad. However, what's unsurprising isn't necessarily confirmed fact, and it appears that news of Rooker's role was... well, let's just say, premature.
According to a recent report by The Wrap, Gunn wanted Rooker for the part of King Shark in The Suicide Squad at Warner Bros., a project he was drawn to after being fired by the Mouse House for jokes he posted online some years ago. The director was eventually rehired to steer Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 earlier this year, but that's had to take a backseat...

As the merging of two distinct studio ecologies continues under Disney, questions have come up during the transition about how Twentieth Century Fox’s library titles will be managed under new ownership. Last week, after Fox put a halt to accepting any new dates, alarmed exhibitors who book repertory theaters or supplement first-run offerings with classic films learned that they can return to (mostly) business as usual. The exception is that Fox will no longer allow weekday matinees aimed at mainly kids’ audiences who remain a mainstay for Disney first-run releases.
Some exhibitors were worried about how Disney would handle the availability of Fox titles such as “Avatar,” “The Sound of Music,” “Home Alone,” “Die Hard,” and the “Alien” films among many others — including the lucrative perennial “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” still thriving in its 45th year in release, which would have a negative impact if it were removed from circulation.

Following her star-studded headlining performance featuring ‘NSync, Nicki Minaj, Mase and P. Diddy during Coachella’s first weekend, Ariana Grande brought out a new guest for her second and final performance at the music festival. Justin Bieber appeared onstage Sunday night and sang his hit single “Sorry” alongside Grande.
Afterward, Bieber told the audience that his performance with Grande was unplanned; he had come out to Coachella as an audience member, not thinking that he would be onstage that weekend.
“I haven’t been onstage in, like, two years,” said Bieber.

Wiz Khalifa saluted his fans on 4/20 by releasing a new music video for his song “Taylor” along with a surprise mixtape. Only, the Pittsburgh rapper was so excited he kind of spoiled his own drop by tweeting cryptically the day before: “Fly Times Vol. 1 will inspire a whole new generation of bosses.” Khalifa’s vision of boss life is crystalized on “Taylor” and it’s endearingly attainable. All you need is a bikini, a pool floatie, some night-swimming and – obvious yet crucial – a massive joint.

Refugee from Vietnam who starred in Oliver Stone’s film Heaven and Earth
Hiep Thi Le, who has died aged 46 from stomach cancer, became a film star after travelling to the Us from Vietnam as a child in the late 1970s, one of hundreds of thousands of refugees known as “boat people”. In her early 20s she landed the lead role in Oliver Stone’s 1993 drama Heaven and Earth despite never having acted before.
Based on the memoirs of Le Ly Hayslip, who, like Le, had arrived in America from Da Nang, the movie was the last and least successful part of the director’s Vietnam trilogy, following Platoon (1986) and Born on the Fourth of July (1989). It’s fun to watch giant monsters go on a rampage and destroy cities, or to go head-to-head in a super-sized slugfest. For decades now, the giant monster/kaiju genre has developed a strong fan following, while mostly being dismissed by critics. Over the years, Godzilla and King Kong have become household names. Let’s end the year by looking at a dozen of the greatest kaiju movies of all time.
Originally, this genre was called ‘Monster on the loose’ films before changing to giant monster movies and finally embracing the Japanese phase Dai Kaiju, or just Kaiju. There have been great ones and terrible ones. We’ll look at the terrible ones at another time. Today, let’s check out the 12 best.
12. Godzilla Vs. Destroyah (1995): Who’d ever have thought a Godzilla film could be so touching? This is the film that killed off the Heisei version of the king of monsters.

Among the freshman class, a pair of boy geniuses — young Sheldon Cooper and that very good doctor, Shaun Murphy — have much to celebrate, while ABC’s Ten Days lasted all of four nights before getting benched. Of TV’s returning shows, things at Grey Sloan Memorial and in Riverdale, USA are positively hopping, while the once-venerable Walking Dead is lurching into somnambulist mode.

When Universal Studios made The Mummy back in 1932, it was in the wake of Tut-mania: the fascination with Ancient Egypt following the discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb a decade earlier. As Egyptian-inspired symbols and designs began to appear on everything from jewellery to cigarette ads, stories began to circulate that the pharoah's tomb was cursed - and thus The Mummy, about a group of archaeologists who provoke the wrath of a long-dead Imhotep (Boris Karloff, hypnotic as always) emerged.
The Mummy's success was such that it became a long-running franchise: Universal made four direct sequels between 1940 and 1944, with a comedy spin-off, Abbott And Costello Meet The Mummy, joining them in 1955. The UK's Hammer Film...

Transformers: The Last Knight is a tiresome mix of self-aware silliness and Budweiser-branded apocalypse porn, but compared to Michael Bay’s previous Hasbrosploitations, at least this one is – dare I say – momentarily fun? Not enough to avoid becoming a dizzy mecha-mess of metallic chaos, mind you. Let’s be realistic. Early predictions of a 3:20 length only missed by about 50-or-so minutes, sticking to the franchise’s boorish signatures. First it’s men against bots, then bots against bots, then Medieval bots against newer bots, then Earth against Cybertron (like, the planets themselves) – be still, my swirling head. Focus on the blatant Suicide Squad ripoff and dogpiled sexual humor. Maybe that will distract from from the distractions themselves.
If you’re keeping tabs on Transformers continuity, The Last Knight is where it all ties together (or, kinda tries). Autobots and Decepticons are now outlaws. National governments assemble anti-robot agency branches...

Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the two Thor films have been among the most forgettable. They’re not bad, but they lack personality and the fun of the rest of the McU. Well, as you’ll see with this Teaser Trailer that debuted yesterday, Thor: Ragnarok certainly seeks to change all of that. As will become apparent, there’s a lighter tone in effect, a larger scale, and a vibe that isn’t at odds with the rest of the McU. It’s very different, almost entirely in good ways. The Teaser Trailer will probably tickle your fancy, but before we get to that, some mild analysis is coming your way! This sequel is the third Thor film and one that works as a sequel not just to Thor: The Dark World, but also to Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War as well. A Star Wars Story.
One of the quirks of my cinephile upbringing was that, despite Star Wars coming out the year before I was born, I didn’t see it until I was eighteen. At the time I was preparing to major in film at a program focused specifically on non-narrative experimental filmmaking, and we were actively scorned for caring about popular films or indeed any popular art. (I only lasted a year before they gave me the heave-ho, partially for liking Led Zeppelin, although that was a symptom, not the disease; it was thus that I became a literal film school reject.) The desire to fit in didn’t supersede my personal taste, but strictly in terms of the kind of movies I was seeing at the time, and not having grown up with Star Wars like everyone else my age, watching the original trilogy for the first time on VHS, in...

I grew up on Broadway musicals. Once upon a time when going to see a show on Broadway didn’t cost you your mortgage plus the life of your first-born, my mom and dad were avid theatergoers. They saw the original production of South Pacific with Mary Martin and Ezio Pinza, the original production of Camelot with Richard Burton and Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet, and the original production of The King and I with Gertrude Lawrence and a then little-known Yul Brynner.
When they were still dating they went into town to see Oklahoma! Over the years they saw Carousel, and Brigadoon, and Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews in My Fair Lady, and Zero Mostel in Fiddler on the Roof, and Carol Channing in Hello, Dolly!, and the original West Side Story with Carol Lawrence and Larry Kert. Having finally caught and absorbed James Mangold’s Logan, the finale to the Og X-films, I find myself hoping that the execs behind the soon-to-be-released Wonder Woman and Justice League movies were taking notes. A caveat: I’m going to attempt to keep my lens wide this week. While I don’t believe I’ll be spoiling anything more than people on your Facebook feed have blathered about, be nonetheless forewarned.
Before I get into my listicle (they’re what make articles click-baity, don’t-cha-know), let me quickly pontificate. Logan was one of the most powerful superhero films I’ve ever seen. Perhaps second only to The Dark Knight. It was a straight-forward small-scale road picture that kept a handle on a single-thread story, presented as an homage to the westerns it evoked throughout the picture. In spite of a heavy-handed two-hour run-time, the film itself moves at a steady pace.

The year is 2029, and the mutant formerly known as the Wolverine isn’t quite as invincible as he used to be. After being alive for almost 200 years, he’s finally starting to show his age. He’s rotting from the inside out, he needs reading glasses, and his healing powers can’t keep up. He’s saved the world like eight times over, but he’s now a glorified Las Vegas Uber driver who cares more about his limo than he does his life. He may be the one guy on Earth who can’t drink himself to death, but that certainly hasn’t stopped him from trying. He’s pretty much a Johnny Cash song with adamantium claws.

Wilson
Woody Harrelson plays a broken down shell of a man with a hint of charm and quirkiness in the upcoming film, Wilson.
His wife left him seventeen years ago, he’s lonely, has no family and like some of us he’s just trying to find a reason to get out of bed every morning. Well he definitely has a reason now, as he finds out his ex-wife put a child up for adoption seventeen years ago and makes it his mission to find her and build the family he’s always wanted.

Returning Friends
Four movies that transcend the “sequel” label, offering reunions with characters we honestly miss. And, hey, did you notice Ridley Scott and/or Harrison Ford have a connection to three of the four?
T2: Trainspotting
In some ways, Trainspotting is not the type of movie that begs a sequel. The frenetic, scatological story of heroine addicts Renton (Ewan McGregor), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Spud (Ewen Bremner) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle) was hailed as an indie gem when it was released in 1996, and needed no follow-up. But on the other hand, who better to catch up with than those chemical-addled misfits? Have they cleaned themselves up? Have they built enjoyable lives? Director Danny Boyle...

This has easily been the hardest time I’ve ever had whittling down my favorite genre offerings for the year. I was fortunate to watch so many great movies throughout the course of the last 12 months (over 150—new and old!), and considering the quality of projects from both the studio and independent sides of the business was exceedingly high, I probably could have featured 20 films on this list, and still would have at least a dozen more I could recommend to fellow fans. 2016 was definitely one of the best recent years in horror and that’s pretty rad.
Beyond the realm of movies, horror also had a strong showing on TV, as it seems almost every single network these days has something of interest if you’re looking to immerse yourself in horror on the small screen. I was also fortunate enough to attend several amazing genre events in 2016, making...

As the 15th anniversary of “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” approaches, TheWrap takes a look at fourteen actors who were almost a part of the most acclaimed trilogy of all time. Frodo Jake Gyllenhaal was one of many who auditioned for Frodo Baggins, but bombed so badly that director Peter Jackson called him the worst actor he had ever seen. Read on for more near-castings in “Lord of the Rings.” You can also find “Fellowship of the Ring” trivia, quotes and goofs on IMDb. Gandalf Sean Connery, Patrick Stewart, and Christopher Plummer were all offered...
