Innocence leads to disaster Warning: Spoilers
This is "Grey Zone", a 17-minute Austrian short film directed by Karl Bretschneider. For him, it is the first out of 3 films he made so far. The lead actor in here is Georg Friedrich and by now, over 10 years later, he should actually be known to many, at least in the German-speaking regions. He played the villain in "Stereo" not too long ago (Vogel, Bleibtreu) and starred in "Über-Ich und Du even more recently. For both performances he received decent acclaim by critics and his peers.

This movie here is a great example of how being at the wrong place at the wrong time can lead to tragedy. The protagonist thought he killed the already-dead boy and that's why he only called the police. Had he known that the kid was already dead before he ran into it, he may have just driven on. And boy, these two police officers were incompetent. The male is obviously extremely incapable of dealing with the situation in a quiet and controlled manner and the woman quickly starts abusing her power when Friedrich's character just wants to help his brother. And then she is even stupid enough to have her gun taken from her by a disabled. Unreal stuff. The only thing one could partially justify in their actions was the final shot. I thought this was a decent short movie. Very tense, pretty atmospheric thanks to the location. Recommended.
