Generic gay-themed short movie

Short films are a popular genre for filmmakers of movies these days which are centered on homosexuality. Sadly these 12 minutes here offer something new or refreshing in that regard. The film was made 12 minutes ago and has all the usual formulas of these films. It's a woman's birthday and she invites her partner. A guy is around too as he is the flatmate of the birthday woman. He is a homosexual too, so his partner shows up soon as well. Everybody is very worried because the parents of the two flatmates come and they don't know yet about their children's sexual orientation. This is the first major flaw as all the characters in here are considerably over 20 and yet they have not told their parents yet and also their parents do not know it yet? What kind of parent-child relationship is that. Apart from that, why would you allow dozens of other friends (some of them gay, some of them even dominas) in when you invite your parents over? Since when do people celebrate their birthdays with their parents AND their friends? Nobody does that, especially not when you have something crucial to tell to your parents. Even if one party comes unexpectedly, you can still always inform the other party co celebrate on another date. And what parents are that if they come over unexpectedly. They may have an idea that their children are having a party with their friends and that they simply won't fit in there with all these people half their ages.

This film is a mix of comedy and drama as these gay-themed short movies mostly are. However, it is never funny and the dramatic moments are not exactly great either. Maybe one reason for that is that director Danny Vendramini simply cast his sisters as main characters instead of going for more talented actresses. One of them also wrote the script together with the male protagonist. It's pretty stupid. Of course they could save some money that way, but if it hurts the overall film that they don't have good actors, maybe some more costs are actually worth it. Then again, the script wasn't great either, so the whole movie is pretty much mediocrity. Nothing extraordinary or entertaining to see here. Not recommended.
