Wow folks, can you believe that it’s the second half of the year already? Seriously, it’s July now, so we’re officially into part two of 2015 right now. With the fourth of July on tap for tomorrow, what better time than now to kick back and look at what the best of the first half of the year was? That’s what I thought too, so go figure…that’s what I’m doing now. Much like I’ve done in the past, I’ll highlight the ten best films of the first half as well as give out some personal awards to boot. Brett Morgen wrote, directed and produced the documentary chronicling the life and times of the feted former Nirvana frontman who committed suicide 20 years ago.
Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean Cobain serves as executive producer on the first documentary to be made with the cooperation of Cobain’s family.
Kurt Cobain: Montage Of Heck includes access to hitherto private recordings, songbooks, personal archives, film footage and artwork.
Danielle Renfrew Behrens served as producer alongside Morgern and Sara Bernstein. Larry Mestel, David Byrnes and Sheila Nevins are executive producers alongside Frances Bean Cobain.
