Banksy is thinking differently about how to approach the topic of Syrian refugees. The graffiti artist has unveiled his latest creation, a portrait of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs at a refugee camp in Calais, France, referred to as “The Jungle,” the New York Times reports. The portrait depicts Jobs in his familiar black turtleneck shirt and blue jeans, a sack over his shoulder and a vintage Apple computer in his hand. See video: John Oliver Proposes Pie-Eating Contest for Syrian Refugee Screening Jobs’ biological father, Abdul Fattah Jandali, grew up in Syria, and his mother became pregnant with the future computer visionary while.

Dave broke down in tears after receiving a letter from his children and friends. The Christian minister was delighted when his housemates gathered round him as Sam - who had won the note in a Tree of Temptation task - read out the message while the group cooked dinner. The graffiti artist said he had something to read, before producing the letter. Sam read: ''Big Dave says, 'Love you dude, really proud of you, hope I never have to see your butt cheeks again.' '' Dave then wept as Sam read out the messages from his children, saying: ''Thank you for every ounce of ..

Sam has been punished by Big Brother for talking about the outside world. The graffiti artist was called to the Diary Room, where he spent more than half an hour before emerging smiling. When queried on his absence by Dave and Andrew, he said: ''All I can say is I've been punished for talking about the outside world.'' However, the 21 year old seemed mystified as to why he had been punished - and admitted even Big Brother was unsure if he had actually done anything wrong. He explained: ''I don't think it's the outside world. ''Big Brother said that what I said was influenced by ..

Davina McCall will levitate outside the 'Big Brother' house tomorrow (06.08.10). In a twist to the 'What The Dickens?' shopping task - with the housemates carrying out various Charles Dickens-themed tests - Mario was named David Copperfield, but plays the Us illusionist rather than the literary character and must make the live show's presenter float in the air to pass his part. A source said: ''Davina is in his hands. Let's hope he doesn't drop her.'' Meanwhile, rehearsals for a group dance to 'Consider Yourself' from the musical 'Oliver!' brought about another row between Josie and Sam. The graffiti artist had taken charge of choreographing ..

Sam has lost his suitcase after failing a secret task set by 'Big Brother'. The graffiti artist - who entered the compound on Friday (30.07.10), replacing Laura who quit last week - told his new housemates he had failed a secret clothes-wearing mission he had been given. He explained to the group he had been told to wear four different eccentric outfits for 20 minutes each. But his fellow contestants were quick to spot something was up, and realised he was doing a task earlier on in the day because of his strange behaviour. However, after they were told he wouldn't receive his suitcase because ..

Supermodel Kate Moss has asked British graffiti artist Banksy to paint a one-off mural on a wall in her mansion. The graffiti artist was given Moss’ mansion keys to paint the mural measuring around 12ft by 18ft, reports The Mirror. The artwork reportedly cost Moss 150,000 pounds. “Kate is a big fan of Banksy and has several prints of his, plus a few originals collected at home. He has even done a portrait of Moss herself,” a source said, adding, “Kate asked him to show her on the catwalk in all stages of her career — from a fresh-faced 16-year-old ...

Fans of Jim Grimsley's 1995 gay coming-of-age novel Dream Boy may very well enjoy the 2008 movie version, which is finally out on DVD. After all, this is an amazingly faithful adaptation of the book.
I don't think too many others will find much here to appreciate.
The movie begins with a surprising lack of drama. In the 1970s, two boys in the rural south meet and fall in love: a shy, bookish type and his more outgoing "farmboy" neighbor. The pace is slow, but there are some nice moments (often taken directly from the book), as when the two boys' eyes meet in the mirror of the school bus. It's all very earnest, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but is a little jarring after the irony-infused 00s.
When the conflict finally kicks in about halfway through, there's certainly a lot of it: the boys are threatened by both...
