Chicago – The Chicago independent film scene keeps thriving, and a local production that just wrapped up will soon be a part of it. “The View From Tall” is based on a play written by co-director Caitlin Parrish, who along with her directing partner Erica Weiss brought the story to the screen.
One of the key roles in the film is portrayed by Chicago actor Michael Patrick Thornton. Thornton is a veteran performer, who most recently appeared as Dr. Gabriel Fife in the ABC-tv series “Private Practice.” Thornton suffered a spinal stroke in 2003, and is now mobile via a wheelchair, but has still forged a full acting career which also included an appearance in “The Dilemma” – directed by Ron Howard – in 2011.

The party continues in The Hangover Part II, with Bradley Cooper (Limitless), Zach Galifianakis (Due Date) and Ed Helms (Cedar Rapids) having a second night of very forgettable trouble.
This movie takes place two years after the boys’ original crazy bachelor party in Las Vegas. This time around, Phil, Stu, Alan and Doug head to Thailand for Stu’s wedding. Shenanigans occur again, and a planned subdued pre-wedding brunch ends up horribly awry.
Rated R, the comedy grossed a tasty $254.46 million in theaters, and put a third film into development.
Ken Jeong (Zookeeper), Justin Bartha (National Treasure) and Jeffrey Tambor (Win Win) return in this sequel, and Paul Giamatti (Barney’s Version) and boxer Mike Tyson join the cast. And Todd Phillips directed this as well as the original movie.

As you can see at the top of the page, Alan Cumming pulled off a neat trick - he made a worst-dressed list in one of the celebrity tabloids, which is almost unheard of for a man. Well, it's almost unheard of for a man other than Alan Cumming. For him, it could be a retirement plan.
And honestly, Alan should be on his best behavior, because it's Fall Fashion Week in New York City where he lives. And that means one thing: Anna Wintour comes out of her lair. And if she sees her shadow, we all get to wear white for six more weeks. Or something like that.

When, on Dec. 30, David Sheward filed his critique of the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players' production of "The Mikado," the reviewing year ended for Back Stage. During 2010, Sheward and co–head critic Erik Haagensen reported on more than 250 theater and cabaret shows and, thanks to their responsibilities as members of the New York Drama Critics' Circle and the Drama Desk, saw many other offerings they didn't review. Rather than present yet another top 10 list of the "best" shows of the year, Sheward and Haagensen decided that a publication serving actors should salute actors. What follows is each man's selection of 10 memorable performances—by five women and five men—seen in 2010. Not the "best," not the "most," not ranked in any order, simply 10 performances that were so outstanding they wanted to salute them. Ten is an arbitrary limit. Without question, there were other performances that were as memorable as these.
