Writer-director has fun with the horror/suspense genre with this relatively unsung Vivid feature starring Kira Kener as a half woman/half pussy cat out of Navajo legend. Clearly aimed more for porn audiences that crossover to horror/fantasy fans, it nonetheless is entertaining in typically quirky Stanley fashion.
I usually find Nick Manning's acting tough to take, but here he's surprisingly effective as Detective Rex J. Crawford (original name: Crowfoot), a "half-breed" Navajo working on a bizarre serial killer case with his beautiful partner Det. Bello (Michelle Michaels, a vastly underrated porn beauty styled brunette here rather than her usual blonde look). With first-person camera creeping along the floor, the audience immediately knows the killer is Kener, busty and amazingly sexy as the human cat, sucking the breath out of her male victims.
With his unique background, Nick figures out the killer's identity and he and Michaels succeed in solving the case, en route to a delightfully sinister surprise ending. Besides the two hot leading ladies, diminutive Cherokee (yes, appropriate casting of a Native American actress in this story) is effective in a fun subplot in which she cheats on her husband with her brother-in-law played by Chris Cannon. Stanley regular Eric Masterson is delightful in a key comedy relief part as a perverted veterinarian (!).
No credits displayed for the supporting cast in NonSex roles, but otherwise this fanciful movie is a useful introduction to the kinky and always strange world of David Stanley films.
