This is a well made retrospective documentary that is full of insights into Hugh Hefner's life. All of the commentary is nothing particularly new or earth shattering to traditional fans of Hefner. However, the documentary does serve as a decent culmination of materials, especially for a new fan of Playboy or Hugh Hefner. The overall feel of this documentary is much like an infomercial, except a man's fame is what is being sold and not some product.
The best parts of this film are the accompanying features that are included on the DVD. The extra documentaries go as far back as the 1950s, where we get to see the young Hefner firsthand. For the young readers of Playboy, this is surely to be a treat, as the enigmatic character was more on in those years long ago.
If one is a fan of such a subject, the DVD would sure be a treat.
