When first I read this script I really liked it for several reasons. I knew Jeff was very smart an would be historically accurate. Some how the last day we ended up hours behind schedule. With no money for a wardrobe department the Boy's wardrobe was never addressed. In the final Hour of light we rushed the last scene. My instinct was to cut the ending leaving it set for feature sequel. But I couldn't just throw the boy on the cutting room floor and lose the payoff ending. One in which Jack sets out to do the right thing with no regard to color. Quite progressive thinking at the time but never the less my reason for producing this film.
I hope you enjoy Penance.
(The sequel is scripted and I am looking to get Mr Clint Eastwood to Act and Direct. Wish me luck.)
