I caught this film at the ArcLight theater in September. It easily stood out as the best short film at the 2004 Silverlake Film Festival! Without giving too much away, the film focuses on a young man who has a fixation with old movies. He gets transported into a surreal film world (via a flying bed) where he finally has the chance to play a hero himself...and rescue the heroine. I'm not sure how the filmmakers achieved all the special effects; but they are SUPERB. It's odd to see such high quality digital effects and wonderful art design in a short film. Presented in 35mm and with Dolby SR sound, the film was definitely a crowd favorite. Most of the other films (at the Silverlake Festival) appeared to be shot on videotape. I see in the IMDb.com database that the director, Richard Kilroy, has a background in visual effects. I look forward to seeing more from this guy!
