Director Ron Atkins releases his latest and most ambitious film, “The Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell” on DVD, August 31, 2011. “The Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell” follows the character of Harry Russo (“Schizophreniac” and “Necromaniac”), returning to a plauge-infested Las Vegas for a supernaturally-ordained meeting with Terry Hawkins (“The Last House On Dead-End Street” aka “The Funhouse”). Set in the near future, “The Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell” tells a twisted story of discovery and destiny, of madness and mayhem, of cultures and corruption. I met Armando Muñoz at the Los Angeles Weekend of Horrors after moderating the panel on The Lair. He approached me in the dealer’s room and we had a nice chat. I left with one of his films in hand and was soon watching one of the more twisted shorts I’ve seen in a long time.
A week later I had the complete Armando Muñoz collection in my hands – Killer Krapper, Mime After Midnight, Panty Kill, The Terrible Old Tran, Pervula and They Have No Shame. Each one more twisted than the next.
When I first started writing this blog, I vowed I would write about people and films that I found interesting, regardless of whether or not they were well known. With that in mind, I present should-be-better-known, out, underground filmmaker Armando Muñoz.

Indie filmmaker Ron Atkins (the man behind Schizophreniac and Necromaniac) sent word over that his newest slice of cinematic insanity, Mutilation Mile, will have its world premiere July 24-25 at Las Vegas, Nevada’s Regency Tropicana Cinemas (3330 East Tropicana). The flick then hits Los Angeles, playing the New Beverly Cinemas August 21-22, with dates in Phoenix, Az and New York to be announced shortly.
Inspired by true events that took place in 1993, the film follows brothers Jimmy and Jack DeGrasso as they go on a bloodsoaked vengeance spree. Fueled by cocaine, they slaughter street thugs, hookers, addicts and drug dealers to find their Uncle Sal’s murderer. “Mutilation Mile began production in October 2006,” Atkins tells us, “and was shot during a fast-paced three weeks in Las Vegas. I then spent two and a half years in post, editing to create an adrenaline-driven, original exploitation/revenge flick that will not only hit a heavy nerve,...
