Superman with relationship issues

Warning: Spoilers
I actually came across this short film on ifilm.com on Saturday, along with the other fan-made comic book shorts "World's Finest", "Grayson", and "Batman: Dead End". Blayne Weaver is obviously not the right person to portray Clark Kent/Superman in any upcoming big-budgeted Superman movies, but here we see a different side of "The Man of Steel". Instead of the stoic, confident hero he always seems to be, here we have Superman as a slacker with problems in his relationship with Lois Lane. Weaver certainly plays it up as a down-and-out Superman who is trying to put the pieces back together in his life, much to the chagrin of Jimmy Olsen and his Justice League buddies. There are some very hilarious moments in this short, and be warned, you will see a very family un-friendly side of the Justice League. Overall, I give it a B+ for effort.

Man of Steel

"Loising Lois Lane" is one the smartest, funniest short movies I have seen in a long time. I was feeling pretty depress and when I watched it, I couldn't believe how clever the story was. Believable actors and a strong script. The direction was great and always fun to watch. It's sort of like watching a Woody Allen movie with a cape. Just a fun short to watch on a raining day or anytime for that matter.

I found out some time later that Blayne Weaver has made his feature debut and it's been touring around the festivals. I couldn't be more happier for him and his crew and cast mates. We need more laughs than ever before and as a writer and director, that's "super" important to me. It's good to have humor in movies. But the one that touched me the most was how much humanity he puts in his stories. That's a rare trait in artists these days.

Great time for them, not for us

"Losing Lois Lane" is an American 20-minute short film from over 10 years ago. Writer, director and lead actor here is Blayne Weaver and good for him that he is still having a prolific career today, mostly in acting. The good thing about his movie here is that I felt everybody was having a pretty good time and lots of fun making this little film. Sadly, this does not apply to the audience. I felt that this was an over-the-top, mostly unfunny and never dramatically relevant work. The acting is as sub-par as the script and the film is really only still somewhat known today because of the superhero reference included in there. So yeah, if you really dig the character or superhero films in general, you can check this one out. I personally give it a thumbs-down though. Very forgettable.
