Killer - in every sense of the word
A patient in a generic clinic has just found out he has precisely 5 minutes to live. He doesn't react well... and neither does the doctor who's just broken him the news...
Although labelled 'concept art' by most of the viewers in the screening I attended, the lack of narrative is reflective. As the tagline says - what would you do with 5mins to live?- The point of the film is 'well, just what COULD you do?'
Regardless that this obviously low-budget, the style is amazing, but again, it does rely heavily on it's core concept, and doesn't particularly develop, which can be frustrating to watch for the un-initiated.
But it's that concept that sticks in your mind. Real time, with a cut every second, we become so conscious of the fact that time is ticking away, not just for the character, but for everyone. The scratchy 16mm film adds to the neo noir feel, and the director does a great job of giving an almost David Lynch surreal-ness, especially with the awkward, sinister doctor.
I think it's a love/hate one. But personally, I love it.
