Tori Tori Tori
jacoblisenby21 April 2006
I have hated Tori Spelling for many years now and it saddens me that it has to come to an end. This show for some reason I can't even explain hit the perfect note. She is brilliant. I know, it sickens me too. Why can't all the crappy actors and actresses remain crappy, it is too confusing when they do something good. The show revolves around Tori Spelling and her life. She is dumb, dorky, and funny. I love the way she makes fun of herself and the way all her close friends and family make fun of her as well. She really did the right thing for her career in this series, but unfortunately I think this is really all she can do. I don't think she is going to make a "come-back" into movies or other television series after this. She found her niche and I think she should just leave it at that.

hilarious
blanche-215 September 2015
I'm not as shocked as other reviewers because I had heard this show was good for a long time before renting it on Netflix.

Tori Spelling sends up Tori Spelling in a hilarious comedy that also stars Zach Quinto in the days when he was Zachary, as her gay friend, Sasan, James Carpinello as her roommate Pete, Loni Anderson as Mrs. Spelling, Brennan Hesser as Janey, and Cleo King as Tori's old nanny.

Spelling dishes herself."I make my own money," she says defensively. Then in a smaller voice, "Acting on my father's TV show." When asked why she doesn't want to be alone, why she's so weird about getting gifts, why this, why that, there is a flashback to little Tori (Ariel Winter) and her ditsy mother which tells the story, then back to Tori in the present, saying off-handedly, "I don't know."

No subject is off-limits. Trying to get out of a stuck limousine, Quinto says, "There are only two inches to get out. Tori, run for help." "You're better looking in person. Have you had more stuff done?"

The best is when she decides to send a video to Steven Soderbergh to be considered as a serious actress and try out for a role as a woman going after a Brazilian gang to save her sister from sex slavery. While in the sex shop buying props, Sasan tells her Shannon Doherty is there, and Tori hits the ground like the place is being bombed.

Ultimately she makes the tape and some of Soderbergh's people give it to him as a birthday gift and laugh out loud. You see Tori in a leather bra and panties with a whip in her hand, acting tough.

Loni Anderson is fabulous as is the rest of the cast, but it's really nice to see her in a good role.

This very funny show was canceled when Spelling's life became more complicated - her father passed away, she became pregnant, and moved on to other projects. It's a shame.

Tori! Tori! Tori!

No, this is not another Pearl Harbor epic, though it comes as almost as big a surprise. This is, in fact, the show that I hoped "Fat Actress" and "The Comeback" might be and deserves equal footing with "Entourage." It's often laugh-out-loud funny, mixing sophisticated sarcasm with broad physical comedy. Who knew Tori Spelling could be an accomplished comic actor, with a major gift for impeccable timing and dead-pan delivery (actually, I've seen her do dead-pan delivery before, but never to such great and intentional comic effect). That she can even participate in such a dead-on send up of her industry in general and her self and her family in particular earns her great, noisy props!

So NoTORIous - Incredibly insightful and uproariously funny!
LAstgreatwriter25 August 2006
This show deserves to be a hit! It blends the best of reality with the best of comedy. Who knew Tori Spelling had this much talent??? The first time I saw the show, it was just for fun - to see just how bad it was going to be. I was shocked! I laughed out loud at the incredibly well crafted show and Tori's powerful self-deprecating humor. Loni Anderson is a delight, turning in performances that remind us why we fell in love with her years ago in WKRP in Cincinnati.

Tori Spelling is showing far more talent and comic genius than anyone could have suspected. She has certainly won my respect. Though it has been reported they were estranged at the time of his death, I have no doubt her daddy is looking down from heaven and is mighty proud of his little princess. So am I.

Instant Classic

Immediately became one of my must-see's.

A blend of comedic timing, good acting and writing together with enough truism's of real life-and the hint of reality-thrown in.

Ms. Spelling is not afraid to surround herself with talented actors and share the spotlight.

She pokes fun at every aspect of herself, her life and past experience, but the genius is that at the same times she's broken out of the typecast...

She has proved, thus far, that she can be a strong part of the creative process that yields great television.

Surprised? Yes. Now an admirer? Yes. Keep the laughs coming, Greg

I Was Not Expecting It...

I gotta admit it. I heard about this show, and I was like...wow...this is going to be terrible. I made jokes even. But for some reason, I watched the first episode. And it was absolutely hilarious. I love how Tori totally makes fun of herself. Her friends are funny as well, and the situations are brilliant. I heard that her mother was thinking about suing her for bad portrayal, but...wouldn't that be a bad portrayal anyway? Suing your own daughter? Apparently, she's rather crazy, anyway...and that's something I learned not from just watching the show.

Good job Donna Martin. ;P This is a good one to watch out for.

So delicious!!!!

This is the greatest scripted, live action comedy to hit TV in years. The timing, the stories, the delivery and yes the TORI are all spot on and perfect. Special mention should go to the genuine report Anthony Quinto (Sassan) and Tori have together... it's so realistic it's scary. This show should be viewed and praised by the masses. Loni Anderson has never been involved with a better project. This show is relentlessly hysterical. Tori Spelling is a goddess and a brilliant actress and this is all stuff I never thought would escape my lips. Swithc it to VH1 every Sunday and get your long hot doses of Ms.Spelling and the gang poking fun at everyone and everything to go through Hollywood. -Tori turn down your nipples so I can hear you!- Love SO NOTORIOUS!!!!!

Stupid
lizzie-du21 November 2006
This was absolutely ridiculous! I watched it and couldn't believe someone spent money to make this! It was an attempt to create a cross between reality and sitcom, but failed miserably! I hope it is canceled quickly, no one needs to subject themselves to this crap. Tori Spelling, playing herself and was horrid. The plot didn't make sense and was simply to stupid. No one should watch it! VH1 sinks to lower and lower levels with each show. From dead chicken to over dramatic freak outs by Tori. another surprise for me was the guest spot by whoppi Goldberg. Why whoppi wanted to be involved in such crap is beyond me. Whoopi is so funny, she must have been hurting for money because I think that would be the only reason someone like her would do this crappy show.

Perhaps the best new show of 2006!
smokey-3926 April 2006
Wow. I never knew much about Tori (I'm 19). I only remember her Scary Movie 2 appearance and thinking that there was definitely some comedic talent there - when I saw this show for the first time, I was hooked.

It is so funny! You know it is very rare for celebrities to successfully poke fun at themselves - but with Tori, she just comes off as naive but very lovable. It's very easy to watch and fun to empathize with.

Greatwriting, great producing (By Ms. Spelling herself!), great cast (wow...best supporting cast of a comedy in a LONG TIME!), and of course great acting by Tori! Wonderful! Don't miss it!

The Best Sitcom on TV (I PROMISE)
Nglas8 May 2006
Okay, this show is fantastic. I beg everyone to watch it once and I promise you will be hooked. The chemistry between the cast is fantastic and it shows up on screen. Tori Spelling is perfect playing herself, she is not afraid to make fun of herself. A side-note, her gay best friend, is absolutely fantastic. He is no token gay guy, equipped with killer lines, a hot face, and a great talent for scene stealing. But watch for the character Janey, as she is probably the best in the show. Armed with lines not seen since Karen from Will and Grace, this girl is hands down the reason I watch the show. (but the entire cast is why I love it)
