Not as bad as many failed pilot episodes.

"The Boys" is a pilot for a series that was never picked up. If you want to see it, it's currently posted on YouTube.

The boys in the title are Eddie (Tim Conway) and Harry (Herb Edelman)...two friends and comedy writers who are partners. Harry is a 'swinging bachelor'...in other words, he's a sexist pig who loves chasing women. Eddie is divorced and is getting married in this pilot episode.

The show has some funny moments...most of which are supplied by Conway. Considering the show was written by the very successful duo of Persky and Danoff, I am not surprised it had its moments. As to whether or not this should have been given the green light to go ahead as a series, who knows. The network execs didn't like it and Conway had a history of failed TV projects in the late 60s and into the 70s. Regardless, it's not a bad show and is watchable...even though the laugh track was hellishly bad and overdone.
