I’m so glad Alan, Stu, and Phil aren’t planning my bachelor party, but I don’t mind spending some time with them, just leave the wedding planning to someone saner. The Hangover Part II‘s needed a premise worthy of getting them slam-dunk drunk once more and give it some plausibility, as Stu says “How could this happen again?” For the most part, director Todd Phillips has that confidently covered, yet the lucky escape into “everything’s fine” ending of the first film, turns oddly cynical at this film’s ending. Stu (Ed Helms) fully accepts, as does the Wolf Pack, that they have inner demons and the alcohol is the trigger. The Hangover Part II is a frat kid with no moral compass and a daddy with a limitless credit card to clear up any wrong doings with no questions asked.
