Just in case you've been living in the Upside Down, let me get you up to speed: Stranger Things Season 2 is officially happening. And as revealed by the show's unreasonably-attractive creators the Duffer Brothers, the new episodes will be set a year after the events of the first season, which would place the characters squarely in the latter days of 1984 (Season 1 took place between November and December of 1983). While that's not a whole lot later, it's still enough time for a massive number of pop-culture and consumer products to have been introduced in the interim, from film to TV to music to technology. For those curious...

Plans were already underway to have William come home after delivering the Lassa virus to the Centre, and once he gets captured by the FBI, the risk to the Jennings family becomes so great that it makes more sense to send them all home — even if that "home" would be a foreign concept in every way to Paige and Henry — than to keep them in the field and risk their capture. With two seasons to go — and with Philip's son Mischa on his way to America to search...

The majority of Facebook mentions of the World Cup are happening in the host country of...

When Steve Jobs launched the Macintosh, he had to generate buzz about a computer that was unfamiliar to most people. It was in 1984, that the relatively unknown computer company, launched a new product named after a particular type of Californian apple – the Macintosh – and in the process changed the world. There were no tech blogs, no social media tools, and certainly no internet. So Jobs had to generate his own campaign to tell the world about the computer, and announce the product to the world via a single advertisement.
Super Bowl Xviii’s lasting legacy has been that single advertisement, a minute long spot that aired sometime during the third quarter. 1984 is the landmark television commercial which thirty years ago, paved the way for big-budget television advertisements and brought Apple into the mainstream. It was conceived by Steve Hayden, Brent Thomas and Lee Clow at Chiat\Day, produced by New York production company Fairbanks Films,...
