It's a common belief that the target audience for romance movies are women. Well, that's true, but that doesn't mean a man can't enjoy a good rom-com. Especially if it's made from a man's point of view or focuses on a male gaze.
Now, male Redditors have gathered online to discuss their favorite movies and have discovered 5 of the best romance gems that any man would enjoy. Here they are!
1. The Wedding Singer (1998)
One of Adam Sandler’s best movies to date, The Wedding Singer centers on Robbie Hart, the performer who sings the hits of the 80’s at weddings, and a waitress named Julia Sullivan, played by Drew Barrymore.
The actors have been together in many movies since they first played the couple in this one.
“It is without a doubt, my favorite film of his. It has so much heart while still retaining just the right amount of that trademark Sandler silliness.

Actor Adam Scott, who was recently seen by some movie-goers in Madame Web, has chosen the project he wants to make his feature directorial debut with – and while Scott is probably best known for his performances in comedy projects like Knocked Up, Step Brothers, Parks and Recreation, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, Ghosted, and Party Down, he’s not going to be directing a comedy. Instead, his first directorial effort is a revenge thriller called Double Booked, which he’ll also be starring in… and Deadline reports that he has chosen a great supporting cast to surround himself with. His co-stars in this one are Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction), Zazie Beetz (Atlanta), and Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus).
Scripted by David Levinson (Welcome Home), Double Booked will tell the story of a successful self-help writer (Scott) and his heavily pregnant wife (Beetz) who organize a weekend away at a secluded lodge,...

Netflix may have a huge list of everyday exciting releases, but the nostalgia for the 2000s still lives on — and the streaming’s recent top chart results are another proof of it.
This time it’s Seth Rogan’s iconic romantic comedy that, unlike many more movies alike, was actually a stunning success in every respect — and after almost 20 years since its release the film is one of Netflix’s most watched movies.
Knocked Up, a 2007 romcom starring Seth Rogan and Katherine Heigl cemented Judd Apatow’s status of a romantic comedy master after he already blew everyone away thanks to an earlier collaboration with Rogan, 2005’s The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Knocked Up’s plot follows Ben, a binge-loving loafer with no desire for commitment, who ends up having a one-night stand with determined career builder Allison — eventually the latter finds out that she’s pregnant. Having come to a common decision to keep the child,...

With two major sci-fi sequels debuting this week to lead the VOD and Netflix charts, the new films also inspired victory laps for the Part Ones of “Dune” and “Rebel Moon.”
“Dune: Part Two” (Warner Bros.) leads at both iTunes and Fandango, and Netflix’s original “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver” is #1 at the streamer. iTunes packaged the 2021 “Dune: Part One” with its sequel as a $34.99 purchase, and it ranks second there. (“Dune: Part Two” alone rents for 48 hours for $24.99.) “Rebel Moon — Part One” returned at #7 on Netflix’s top 10.
Three other recent theatrical releases also transitioned to home viewing, with curiously different pricing and availability strategies. The top grosser is Neon’s “Immaculate” (approaching $16 million), but it rents for the lowest price: $9.99. “Late Night with the Devil” (IFC) is $14.99, but for that price consumers own it. “In the Land of Saints and Sinners” (Goldwyn) with Liam Neeson is a standard $19.99 rental.

Motherhood is a challenging, stressful and inherently messy experience. Very messy. It's a wild carnival of bodily fluids: poop, pee, puke and, well, female excretions that a male such as myself has no business discussing in graphic detail. I understand and salute the multitude of sacrifices women make when they choose to carry, deliver and raise a child, and I know good and goddamn well when to keep my mouth shut about this topic -- which is just about 100-percent of the time.
As someone who believes films can be amazing empathy machines (the recent trend of abortion road trip movies has been a stark revelation for me), I do wish there were more movies that depicted in unvarnished detail the conception-to-delivery process without feeling obliged to give equal time or thereabouts to the male perspective. This is especially true of comedies. I adore "Juno" and "Knocked Up," but these...

Besides being famous for never aging a day in his life, Paul Rudd is living proof that being a terrific actor and the nicest guy in show business are terms that aren’t mutually exclusive. A classically-trained actor, Rudd realized early on that comedy was his forte, and he soon found himself much in demand for television work. Not surprisingly, his feature film debut was in a comedy, Amy Heckerling‘s 1995 “Clueless,” which brought Rudd the best reviews of his still-growing career. More film work followed, mostly in comedy but occasionally in dramas, one of which, 1999’s “The Cider House Rules,” brought Rudd his first SAG Award nomination as part of that film’s ensemble cast.
With 2004’s “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” Rudd began a collaboration with filmmaker Judd Apatow that would change his career. Over the next decade, Rudd would co-star in six films that were either...

Judd Apatow has directed such comedy films as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Trainwreck, among others. Despite his recent The King of Staten Island and The Bubble going straight to streaming, he still believes comedy films have a place in theaters.
“The highest-grossing comedy last year made over a billion dollars. Barbie was a comedy,” Apatow said in an interview with Vulture on the Good One podcast.
Barbie is “not a drama,” Apatow said. “There are some emotional moments in it, but it’s just wall-to-wall jokes. There’s something about it where I feel like no one wants to give comedy the win there. Like, why can’t we say Barbie is a comedy? What other category would it be?”
Apatow thinks the genre just needs “another hit or two” to mount its theatrical comeback, citing Hollywood’s propensity to imitate success. Apatow said producers will “chase anything...

Before becoming a superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Paul Rudd was known as Hollywood’s ever-charming funnyman. He has starred in a dozen hit comedies that have shown his brilliant comic timing and his ability to be likable without even trying. Rudd has certainly been one of the comic actors that people have loved over the years.

In addition to comedy, the actor also manages to pack in great chemistry with every female lead in his films. Be it Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Eva Longoria, or Leslie Mann, he has managed to charm them and make them fall head over heels for him on-screen throughout their films together.

For those of us who religiously watch “Sex and the City” on whatever platform it is currently streaming on (hi), April 1 is an exciting day. That’s the day the popular HBO series starring Sarah Jessica Parker is coming to Netflix — for the very first time. And TBS reruns this is not: This is the full, unedited, groundbreaking show, now just waiting for viewers new and old to do a Netflix binge. (Paging Gen Z!)
Of course, there are plenty of other exciting TV shows and movies hitting Netflix in April 2024. Movie thrills include Jessica Chastain-starring “Molly’s Game” making its way back to the streamer, as well as perennial rom-com fave “You’ve Got Mail.” On the TV side, there’s new series “Dead Boy Detectives,” from showrunner Steve Yockey, and from the same universe as “The Sandman,” based on the beloved comic series from Neil Gaiman.

The South by Southwest debut of “Stormy” was not your typical Imagine Documentaries premiere.
About adult film star Stormy Daniels’ alleged affair with former President Donald Trump, the film drew an eclectic crowd that included porn stars and “Muppet” director-producer Frank Oz, who sat in the same row as Daniels and her entourage made up mainly of buff bodyguards. Dogs sniffed Austin’s Stateside Theater prior to the screening. After it unspooled, Daniels spoke to the SXSW audience, revealing that she first met “Stormy” exec producer Judd Apatow when he hired her for a small part in his 2005 film “40 Year-Old Virgin.” When she was a no-show due to a death in the family, Apatow sent her flowers and rescheduled her shoot date.
“I thought he would replace me,” Daniels, who would go on to appear in “Knocked Up” for the filmmaker, told the crowd, with director Sarah Gibson standing nearby.

The romcom ruled the 1980s, and the Apatow comedies ruled the 2000s. The tastes may change, but films that bring incredible chemistry to the screen stand the test of time. It’s why we still watch When Harry Met Sally and The Forty-Year-Old Virgin decades after their release. Babes — a new film from Illana Glazer, Pamela Adlon, and Josh Rabinowitz, wears its inspirations on its sleeve. Yet, with Glazer in the lead, it’s got a unique sense of humor by returning to her Broad City roots.
Babes Plot
Best friends Eden (Glazer) and Dawn (Michelle Buteau) watch movies every Thanksgiving. However, this year, Dawn goes into labor during the tradition. After helping Dawn to the hospital, Eden heads home for the night. While on the subway, she meets an actor who shares all of her interests. The two head home and have a one-night stand. Weeks later, Eden discovers she’s pregnant.

"Office Space," Mike Judge's satirical take on white collar office culture, disappointed at the box office but soon became a cult favorite after it arrived in 1999. That was mostly thanks to home video sales and Comedy Central airing the film multiple times after its theatrical run. But "Office Space" thoroughly deserved whatever cult status it attained, because it always felt very much ahead of its time.

When Judd Apatow and the boys make an R-rated pregnancy comedy, they call it “Knocked Up.” But when “Broad City” co-creator Ilana Glazer and stand-up comic Michelle Buteau try their hand at the same subject, the every-bit-as-raunchy result comes with a far classier title: “Babes.”
That pun is just one of the movie’s many acts of irreverent reclamation, as helmer Pamela Adlon — making a confident switch to feature directing after seminal small-screen contributions to “Louie” and “Better Things” — and her stars de-objectify a label used by dudes, slapping it on themselves. The cheeky term applies to both lifelong amigas Eden (Glazer) and Dawn (Buteau) and the infants they spend most of the movie incubating. These babes are making babies, and you might be surprised just how much comedy there is still to be milked from that seemingly universal (but still widely underexamined) subject.

Andrew Tate has been a controversial figure due to his extreme views on certain lifestyles and has been accused of spreading misogyny in his videos. The influencer was arrested along with his brother Tristan Tate after being accused of human trafficking, r*pe, and organized crime. While the former kickboxers have been released from prison, they are reportedly still under judicial control.
Tate has been widely known for his extremist views on masculinity, lifestyle, and more and has constantly been vocal about prominent celebrities’ life choices. He recently commented on actor and producer Seth Rogen’s choice not to have kids. Apple TV+ has added more than 50 licensed movies included in the price of the subscription service — the streamer’s biggest collection of back-catalog studio content to date. But the third-party titles will only be available for a limited time.
Apple TV+’s lineup has mostly comprised original series, movies and specials commissioned for the platform (as well as a smattering of live MLB games). Now it has added a bouquet of older film favorites to the mix, including popular and award-winning movies like “Titanic,” “300,” “Argo,” “Black Hawk Down,” “The Bodyguard,” “Jurassic World,” “Gravity,” “Fast & Furious 6,” “Kill Bill” Volume 1 and 2, “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” the original 2004 “Mean Girls” and “Zoolander.”
The movies are listed in a new section on the service labeled “Great Movies on Apple TV+” — however, the service notes, these are available for a “limited time.

While annual attendees warning newcomers to strap in for a long night ahead is a tradition at the Directors Guild of America Awards, the 2024 show seemed to move pretty steadily without a hitch.
Taking place on Saturday, February 11 at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the golden medallions mostly went to expected winners like Theatrical Feature Film going to “Oppenheimer” director Christopher Nolan, Michael Apted First-Time Theatrical Feature Film going to “Past Lives” director Celine Song, and Comedy Series going to “The Bear” showrunner/director Christopher Storer for the cameo-packed Season 2 episode “The Fishes.”
However, before those awards were given out, director Lesli Linka Glatter used her President’s Welcome to address an elephant in the room. “This year, members need that connection over our shared craft even more now. This was a move initiated by Drake who’ll be working with Fogelson over the coming months to transition him to the Chair role.
The corporate segue follows Lionsgate’s reboot of the Hunger Games franchise with the Q4 holiday prequel, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which has grossed over $340M global box office to date.

Filmmaker Judd Apatow disagrees with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ decision to classify Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ starring Margot Robbie as an adapted screenplay rather than original.
“It’s insulting to the writers to say they were working off of existing material,” the ‘Knocked Up’ and ‘This Is 40’ director wrote on X/Twitter, reports Variety.
“There was no existing material or story. There was a clear box.”
It was reported that ‘Barbie’ will compete for a best adapted screenplay nomination in the Oscar race, despite campaigning for original screenplay.
Each awards body and voting group has its own subset of rules for movies in terms of which screenplay category they can submit or ultimately be nominated. Many films about pre-existing characters — such as previous Oscar nominees ‘Toy Story 3’, ‘Borat 2’, ‘Before Sunset’ and ‘Before Midnight’ — were ultimately classified as adapted screenplays.

This article contains Barbie spoilers.
The final bit of dialogue in the Barbie screenplay is one of the funniest, as well as most subversive. Over the course of two hours, audiences have watched one of the most beloved (and commercialized) icons of femininity in American pop culture experience a dawning self-awareness about what it truly means to be a woman. And in the final scene of the movie, she becomes one, with the newly relocated Barbie now going by the name “Barbra Handler” in the real world. More important though is she’s seeing a doctor for the first time, and it’s for a specific type of checkup.
“I’m here to see my gynecologist!” Barbara beams, complete with Margot Robbie’s usual incandescent smile. It’s a brilliant sendoff for the comedy, partially because it forces the audience to recall that Robbie’s Barbie said earlier in the...

"The Twilight Zone" isn't any old kind of zone. It's a bizarre place where anything can happen. Aliens can invade at any moment, William Shakespeare can get a job as a Hollywood ghostwriter. Heck, the creator of the series, Rod Serling, even got killed by his own creations once. The limits are only those of the human imagination, which are damn near infinite, except maybe without the words "damn near."
Yes, sometimes "The Twilight Zone" shows us things we never expected to see, which are hard to describe without making it seem like you're the one making it up. This is especially true for the less-popular, but still sometimes great reboots, which in the 1980s, early 2000s, and late 2010s allowed a whole new generation of actors, writers, and filmmakers to play in Rod Serling's unusual sandbox. Unlike the 1960s series, which was a cultural phenomenon in the 1960s and...

Ending the year in signs is the hilarious, adventurous, sharp-tongued era of Sagittarius.
There’s truly nothing like them. They are quirky, mysterious and full of life. While they naturally grab the attention in the room, they feel most comfortable when they’re in their lonesome.
Sagittarius is the jack-of-trades sign; the sign that takes up space in every all industries — whether they be an actor, comedian or a bus driver — their versatility allows them to do it all. And that flexibility helps fuel their “I’ll try anything once” mindset. To them, what is life if you’re not living it to your fullest? The only thing you have to beware of is their slick mouth. Between Sagittarius, Virgo and Aries it’s hard to tell which sign is more brutally honest. Truly, to know Sagittarius is to love them. And if you don’t love…it doesn’t...

During her first night on the air after the resolution of the SAG-AFTRA strike, “Daily Show” guest host Sarah Silverman wasted no time celebrating the historic Hollywood moment.
“It is a big night. The SAG strike is over, which means Hollywood can finally get back to what they do best: turning your children gay,” Silverman said at the top of her final episode hosting the Comedy Central show.
Most of Silverman’s opening monologue was devoted to dissecting Wednesday night’s GOP debate. But the comedian did sneak a couple of strike-related jabs into her time on the show.
While talking about the first public appearance of Tim Scott’s girlfriend, Mindy Noce, Silverman gushed that it was nice Scott “finally” found love “with a respectable-looking woman just two months before the Iowa caucus.”
“It’s just bad for Tim that he had to get this non-union actor to play his girlfriend,...

It was revealed last year that Judd Apatow was developing a sequel to This Is 40, the “sort-of” sequel to Knocked Up. This Is 50 would catch up with Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) in the next stage of their lives, and although the project is still in the works, it appears to have been put on the back burner for now.
While speaking with The Playlist, Judd Apatow said he’s got a new project written and ready to go once the SAG-AFTRA strike concludes. “I wrote a film; I’m just waiting for all these strikes to end to see if they’ll allow me to make it,” Apatow said. “So, my life is in Fran Drescher’s hands. As it’s always been.” He wouldn’t spill any details on the new project, only to say that it would not be This Is 50.

Ashton Kutcher was once in a highly publicized relationship and marriage with Demi Moore before their 2013 divorce. While the two were together, Kutcher starred alongside controversial actor Katherine Heigl in Killers. And the pair engaged in a love scene Kutcher felt might as well have been cheating.

Kutcher and Heigl first collaborated on the 2010 feature Killers. The rom-com was about a wife who discovers that Kutcher’s character is a secret agent on his 30th birthday. Seeing as they portrayed a couple in the feature, Heigl and Kutcher both had to perform a love scene. At the time, this might not have been an issue for Heigl. Especially since the Knocked Up star immediately fell for Kutcher’s charm and looks. At times, Heigl wasn’t sure she was even acting out her attraction towards her co-star.

Zac Efron was a new face in one of Seth Rogen’s raunchy comedies Neighbors. But a fight scene in the film ended up getting out of hand, resulting in Efron slightly injuring himself.

Efron didn’t have to audition for the hit comedy Neighbors. Rogen was already very familiar with the actor, and offered Efron the starring role that he gladly accepted. Efron played a wild sorority frat boy living next door to Rogen’s character, which the High School Musical star helped create.
“One thing he was vocal about, which was very smart, was making a movie that wasn’t just critical of fraternity life,” Rogen once told The Hollywood Reporter. “Most of us are nerdy comedy-writer guys, and he’s not, so it was very helpful to have the voice of the other group.

The comedian makes his directorial debut with a bitter misfire about three older fathers railing against political correctness
Judd Apatow has spent much of the 21st century showing America how dudes become men, his films built coming-of-age-like narratives for overgrown juveniles well into legal adulthood. In Knocked Up, Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd respectively modeled irresponsibility for twenty and thirtysomethings, and with This is 40, Rudd’s character stared down the barrel of middle age; in all cases, they arrived at the crucial realization that they need to stop clinging to vestiges of immaturity so they can provide for the people they care about. For these schlubs, the desire to stay young forever meant smoking weed during the daytime, bumping Wu-Tang with your friends and going to rock shows without getting your wife’s permission. For an ensemble in their 50s, however, rejecting the onward march of time becomes a far dicier proposition.

Actor and comedian Ken Jeong, who is currently a judge on Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” is developing a talk show with an eye toward a 2024 launch, according to media reports on Friday.
He taped a test show in New York on Friday, Deadline reported. That’s not a SAG strike violation as talk show hosts are under a different contract and no longer a WGA red flag — as it was for Drew Barrymore and Bill Maher — as writers have gone back to work after successfully negotiating a new contract with the AMPTP.
Jim Biederman of “The Kids in the Hall” will serve as showrunner, writer and director. He’ll also executive produce alongside Jeong for Debmar-Mercury, the company behind “The Wendy Williams Show” and “The Nick Cannon Show.”

It’s an elevation that many industry players saw as inevitable – after all, how much longer could the company keep the in-demand executive without expanding her portfolio?
However, that also shortchanges Langley’s talent for C-suite survival, one that’s seen her withstand mergers and sales, as well as a revolving door of leaders and associates such as Ron Meyer, Adam Fogelson and Jeff Shell,...
