“Game of Thrones” has seven seasons down and one to go — hard to believe after six years and 67 episodes. “Got” will be remembered as a highlight of the Peak TV era, and IndieWire has already named it one of the best-directed series of the 21st century. But how does the series stack up when you pit all seven seasons against one another?
Below we’ve ranked the seven seasons of “Game of Thrones” from worst to best. It’s important to note that no season has been flat-out terrible; even the most uneven seasons included some of the most thrilling television moments of its year. With only six episodes left before “Thrones” signs off for good, here’s where the current seasons rank.

Rickard Stark: Don’t get into any fights. But if you do, win.
Game Of Thrones may frequently be referred to as the show about 'tits and dragons', but brutal fight scenes and a high body count are just as important to the show’s tone and to its success. Here, we celebrate 27 of the best – and it should be noted, there are so many fantastic fight scenes in this show, we had to leave out some great ones.
We’ve gone for a fairly loose definition of ‘fight’ here. To qualify, an example has to be an actual fight, with both sides standing a chance, both getting in a few jabs, and having some ability to defend themselves,...

If the end of “Game of Thrones” Season 7 made one thing clear, it’s that winter is unavoidably here for every major character. Jaime Lannister fled King’s Landing as snow finally began to fall on the capital of the Seven Kingdoms. And in a dazzling cliffhanger, the Night King demolished Eastwatch atop his newly-acquired ice dragon, sending the Army of the Dead south towards Westeros.
The White Walkers have been a part of “Game of Thrones” since the very first scene of the pilot, but they’ve now become a threat so great that they could potentially ruin the entire series.

GoT's seventh season came to an end last night, and it did so in a spectacular fashion. There's almost too much to talk about, but let's give it a try.

The Great War is here. The Game of Thrones finale "The Dragon and the Wolf" gives us the moment we've been waiting seven seasons for: the Wall is down and the Army of the Dead is coming.
While "The Dragon and the Wolf" is mostly about the upcoming war with the White Walkers, the Game of Thrones finale has some great moments for dragon and wolf (or Targaryen and Stark) fans from Rhaegar and the Lyanna's wedding to Jon Snow and Daenerys finally hooking up. And this has huge implications: Jon is the true heir to the Iron Throne and is sleeping with his aunt. Meanwhile, while everyone's attention is on the North, Cersei is strategizing the war with Daenerys. Plus, Littlefinger's schemes finally caught up with him, and Theon finally proves himself. It's one hell of a finale.

The impassioned Game of Thrones fanbase is currently beside itself with excitement in anticipation of Sunday’s season 7 finale, “The Dragon and the Wolf.”
It is, without question, a momentous and defining chapter in Westerosi history, and HBO has ensured the seventh season will go out with a bang thanks to a super-sized 80-minute episode. Best settle in for some drama, folks, because it’s about to get hairy.
Coming off last week’s “Beyond the Wall,” in which the Night King trapped the ‘Snowicide Squad,’ unleashed an army of Wights, and killed (and indeed resurrected!) Viserion, viewers have been left on tenterhooks as the fate of Westeros hangs in the balance. But thanks to season 7’s official soundtrack listing, we may have some story clues pertaining to Sunday’s grand finale. First spotted by Vanity Fair, music from the show’s seventh season is expected to go on sale from September 29th,...

Well… that happened then.
If last week went by at a break neck pace, this week really takes the cake. Dragons, White Walkers, dead bears and Olympic medal running – hell, this episode seems to go by faster than it took to leak online.
So, we pick up pretty much where we left off last week – Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) is leading a suicide mission North of the Wall to convince sociopath Cersie (Lena Headey) that zombies are more important than her claim to the throne that came out of nowhere. All he wants to do is capture one of the extras off The Walking Dead, traipse it down to King’s Landing and solve all the show’s problems in one go. Jon and co spend quite a bit of time drinking in the Northern sights – and then literally all hell breaks loose.

This Game of Thrones episode, titled "Beyond the Wall," gives us our biggest battle with the Army of the Dead to date! Daenerys says it best when she says you have to see it to believe it. The White Walkers are a formidable foe.
Jon and the gang go on their mission to capture a wight to prove to Cersei that the threat is real during "Beyond the Wall." Of course, things are never easy on Game of Thrones, and the Army of the Dead quickly surrounds them and a brutal battle ensues. And after seeing that battle, there's no denying the threat is real. But is the fight hopeless? Jon and the others barely survive the battle. And that's before an undead dragon joins the mix.

The Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere had The Hound finally learn the truth about the White Walkers. Looking into the flames of the cabin where he'd left a father and daughter to starve to death, he saw The Wall, the Army of the Dead and a mysterious arrowhead-shaped rock. While fans roughly knew what it all meant, we didn't get confirmation of when any of this would happen. The trailer for Season 7, Episode 6 has hinted that it is coming up soon.

Spoilers For Game Of Thrones Season 7 Episode 5 Throughout
It is fair to say that last week’s episode of Game of Thrones – “The Spoils of War” – was among the finest ever in the show’s illustrious history. Thus far, the seventh season of HBO’s leading fantasy drama has been nothing less than extraordinary, and with this week’s hour, little has deviated. In fact, “Eastwatch” – the fifth episode in this finite seven-episode season – was just as memorable and impactful as its predecessor; uncovering remarkable truths, delivering delicious portions of fan serving, and confirming a series of revelations so vital, it might just be the most critical episode so far.
Sure, it doesn’t topple the ember-laden highs of last week’s battle, but that was never the intention. “Eastwatch” maps what is yet to come in the closing stages of Season 7, and despite a breather in action,...

"If we don't put our enmities aside," Davos Seaworth (Liam Cunningham) once warned, "then it won't matter whose skeleton sits on the Iron Throne."
At the time, the Onion Knight's words of warning fell on deaf ears, as Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) could focus on nothing but her own impending conquest of Westeros. She brushed off the reports of White Walkers as nothing more than myth. But Game of Thrones viewers knew all too well how real these mythical monsters truly are, and now, not only is the Dragon Queen starting to appreciate the threat, but even the Queen of King's Landing is beginning to chew on the idea.

Could everyone unite against the White Walkers on Game of Thrones? That's the question that this episode, titled "Eastwatch," poses. The Army of the Dead is coming, so Jon Snow and the gang come up with a plan. Jon and some others will head north to catch a wight. They'll use it to prove to Cersei that the threat is real, and they'll all work together to defeat the White Walkers.
That sounds promising. Daenerys even proposes a truce to Cersei via Tyrion. And Jon Snow, Jorah, Gendry (yes, Gendry's back), the Hound, the Brotherhood and Tormund all band together to head north of the Wall, despite all having something to hate about each other. Maybe they can all work together and defeat the army of the dead! Of course, things will never be that easy on Game of Thrones. Cersei and Daenerys, in particular, aren't going to just give up their war,...

Back in the Game of Thrones season seven premiere, the Hound (Rory McCann) confronted his lifelong fear of fire and experienced something that will likely alter his worldview forever.
The famously skeptical swordsman peered into the flames, on the suggestion of Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer) and Thoros of Myr (Paul Kaye), and saw "ice — a wall of ice. The Wall." He described a castle that very much fits the description of Eastwatch by the Sea, the Night's Watch fortress on the easternmost edge of the enormous Wall that separates the Seven Kingdoms from the uncharted frozen lands beyond, a cold wasteland that makes the North's talk of winter look like a midsummer dream. With such a cynical man having such an emotionally charged reaction to such an undeniable display of magic,...

Well then. Quite a lot happened in this one, didn’t it?
It really is quite refreshing, when you watch as much TV as I do, to appreciate just how damn well written this show is. With only very minor exceptions, every scene is brimming with good lines. With strong characterisation. With what is not said being just as important as what is. Game of Thrones really is a masterclass in how to write a good TV programme. It just also happens to contain dragons. And eunuch sex.
But seriously. There were so many decent scenes to talk about here that it really doesn’t do it justice to just type about it. So, if you haven’t seen this episode yet, and if you don’t watch Game of Thrones, then for the love of God. Get watching!

Spoilers For Game Of Thrones Season 7 Episode 2 Throughout
Opening and exiting on thunderous moments, our return to Westeros continues in breathless fashion. Following last week’s stellar season premiere, “Dragonstone”, the seventh showcase for HBO’s flagship fantasy drama presses on beautifully, as second outing “Stormborn” further defines the developmental battle lines, in addition to texturising characters already believed to be fully rendered.
Game of Thrones is infamous for throwing its devoted viewership through a loop; pulling the carpet from under our feet, turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. Episode Two furthered such traditions – both thematically and tonally – as showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss continue to superbly bridge the gap between George R.R. Martin’s fiction, and their own interpretation of the Seven Kingdoms.

At last, Call of Duty: WWII developer Sledgehammer Games has pulled back the blood-stained curtain on the shooter’s Nazi Zombies mode, revealing a horde of festering undead just waiting to be peppered with bullets.

Indeed, it’s been a while since fans have been able to enjoy the delights of downing endless waves of undead Third Reich soldiers, but as is...

Keeping secrets is never easy, especially when you have potentially thousands of people doing their best to prematurely uncover them. Take Call of Duty: WWII, for example, which has millions of fans eagerly awaiting its arrival later this year. With such a large player base to contend with, it’s inevitable that some of them will go digging in the right place at the right time.
That couldn’t be truer than it is today, as a recent leak (via Bloody-Disgusting) has outed the shooter’s Zombies mode ahead of schedule. Developer Sledgehammer Games will no doubt be miffed by the leak, but what perhaps makes this particular discovery sting just that little bit more is the date pegged to its official announcement.
As it turns out, the undead-slaying mode was due to be revealed at San Diego Comic-Con later this week, with promotional material counting down the days until its unveiling,...

HBO’s Game of Thrones is hardly what you’d describe as a happy series, but this year’s sixth season did contain quite a few bright moments and is generally considered to be the most positive batch of episodes we’ve seen since the show’s inception. This is largely due to the resurrection of Jon Snow, and seeing the despicable Ramsay Bolton finally get his comeuppance – but if fans were expecting this to inform the storylines for the final couple of seasons, they may be in for some disappointment.
During an interview with THR, Kit Harington (Snow) suggested that things are going to get much worse for the characters before – and perhaps crucially, if – they get better.
“I think it’s going to get very bleak before if there is a happy ending. If there’s any sort of win or heroic moment for Jon and everyone else.

Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers for Season 6 of Game of Thrones.
The previous season of Game of Thrones was a big one for the series, as it was the first one that went completely beyond the source material. As far as book fans knew, Jon Snow lay dead in the snow, and while his future resurrection seemed obvious, nothing was for sure. Season 6 saw this action realized, and in it we saw a completely new Jon Snow.
But how different, exactly? That was the question actor Kit Harrington had about his role going into the season, as was revealed in an interview with THR.
"Having died at the end of the fifth season, I was told I'd come back, but they didn't tell me anything about how. And I thought, 'Is it going to be some seismic shift in Jon? Is he going to come back as a nasty person?...

Hollywood always seems to be looking for the next big lucrative film franchise. Studios have looked at several existing properties in hopes of finding their big meal ticket, and some of those properties include classic action figure toy lines and cartoon series from the 1980s. We’ve already seen films for G.I. Joe, Transformers, He-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and a few others, but there are a helluva lot more out there that would make for some great movies!
I’ve put together a list of several different action figure and cartoon properties that I would love to see adapted for the big screen. Most of the properties on this list are ones I loved as a kid, and it would be so cool to see them brought to life in a way we've never seen before. I briefly talk about each franchise on the list and give a...

Ultimatum #1-5 (2008-2009)

This week, I am deciding to eat my vegetables before dessert and am reviewing the Ultimatum crossover series many weeks before I get to it in my History of the Ultimate Universe series. I am also combining my column with our mini event “Worst Comics Month”. This is because after I finished binge reading Ultimate Spider-Man Volume One and decided to read this “Ultimatum” series, which filled the gaps in some of the final issues, I (the neophyte comics fan) felt like I had truly experienced a bad comic with its ugly art, “shocking” plot reveals with little or no build-up, and jarring switches in tone from Hulk switching from dumb to smart to in between in the space of a panel to...

You know you're in trouble when you have to buy three movie tickets to get to anything dubbed "the defining chapter"No, no. Not The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Just Five Armies. Those Middle Earth movies have long since passed their expiration date for Tfe's interest, though, if you're curious for a review Timothy wrote an excellent one (as is his enviable habit). Peter Jackson, once an exciting, rowdy, and passionate human filmmaker is now a factory mogul. Contrary to popular belief, we love television here at The Film Experience but each medium has its place. Serialized storytelling is TV's most beloved strength. The movies aren't very good at it. And that's what annual franchises are, one season of an expensive show per year that's only two or three episodes long in which something may or may not happen depending on how much material the show-runner and...

Sherlock fans are used to scrutinising every aspect of the show – from the episodes to promotional material – but speculation reached a fever pitch today (November 25).
The return of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman for a 2015 special was teased today in a photo depicting them in Victorian attire, exciting fans around the world.
And yet – there's something wrong with that picture, isn't there?
Sherlock might have gained a fanciful top hat, but… erm… isn't he missing a shoulder?
Speculation raged on Twitter in the hours after the photograph's release over whether the missing shoulder was a simple Photoshop error or a potential hint about the next Sherlock adventure.
BBC One quickly allayed fans' fears by releasing an updated promotional image, and this time Cumberbatch's full shoulder was intact.

First, let me thank readers of the George R.R. Martin novels that serve as the source for HBO's Game of Thrones, which concluded its third and (so far) best season Sunday night.
Thank you for keeping your traps shut.
If you had suffered from spoiler's pride, you would have gone around boasting loudly about your foreknowledge of the calamity that struck in last week's penultimate episode, "The Rains of Castamere," more popularly known now simply as "Red Wedding."
Thanks to your courtesy, viewers were able to let their jaws drop freely and spontaneously as Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley), her son...

Aside from the obvious “it’s a masterpiece, the movie event of the last decade, a fitting tribute to J.R.R. Tolkien and the art of moviemaking”, there are a lot of reasons to re-visit The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Extended Editions, natch). As well as helping you get psyched up for the ridiculously generous portions of tasty Hobbit action that Peter Jackson has spooned onto our plates this Christmas and the following two, the hirsute director’s original, triumphant journey through Middle Earth will thrill and chill you in all sorts of ways.
It’s really impressive how Jackson and his team managed to distill Tolkien’s sweeping epic into something striking, coherent, and (relatively) fast-paced (a genuine page-by-page adaptation would have been about twenty hours long, after all), building to thunderous dramatic climaxes. However, what stay with you are the individual scenes and moments, the dazzling visual flourishes...

One of the biggest points of discussion surrounding Joss Whedon’s The Avengers has most certainly been the identity of the alien invaders that make up Loki’s army. Are they Skrulls? Krees? Hera’s Army of the Dead? To be fair, Whedon has stated in past announcements that the alien soldiers are Not the Skrulls but that’s done very little to keep fans from crossing their fingers and expecting to see a Skrull element on the big screen.
Now, Whedon has once again taken new info to the fans ears in a recent press conference to better clarify the identity of these mysterious invaders and in doing so, has pretty much lets the alien cat out of the bag.
“The alien race are the Chitauri — or a version of them — because they are not one of the key races and they don’t have a storied history. That wasn’t the point.

As icy sci-fi horror prequel The Thing gets its home release, we speak to director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr about its writing, shooting and effects…
Following John Carpenter’s out-and-out classic The Thing would be a daunting task for any director. Since its release in 1982, the film’s gained a revered status, with its sublime mixture of Dean Cundey’s cinematography, Ennio Morricone’s murmuring bassline and Rob Bottin’s special effects still standing up remarkably well even 30 years later.
When Universal sought to continue the legacy of The Thing as a potential franchise, thawing out a property that has, like the shape-shifting beast of the title, lain dormant for some time, it’s to the studio’s credit that it didn’t attempt to make some sort of PG-13 blockbuster to win over the multiplex crowd.
Instead, producers Marc Abraham and Eric Newman were given the latitude to pursue the same downbeat,...
