It’s a cliché and a half to say that everything can change during The Voice’s Battles. In fact, if Carson Daly said it, I’m sure I’d roll my eyes. But it’s also, weirdly, true. Last season, I went into the Battles backing Felicia Temple and came out in awe of (eventual winner) Chris Blue. Going into Season 13’s Battles, my money was on… well, you know. However, I wouldn’t be in the slightest surprised if, by the time they were over, I was rooting for a different singer. Did Monday’s kickoff of the Battles,...

Retro vibes underscore the remarkable production design work on “The Crown,” “Stranger Things,” “Westworld,” “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” and “Hairspray Live!,” which all share the same goal: to humanize their worlds with imagination and relatability.
In “The Crown,” Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy) endures a rite of passage inside and outside the palace that offers personal and political challenges; In “Stranger Things,” ’80s suburbia contains a mirror-image dark side. In “Westworld,” the allure of a western adult theme park cracks open violence and hate. In “A Series of Unfortunate Events,” three orphan children persevere despite being passed around from one bizarre home to another. And in “Hairspray Live!,” idealistic Tracy Turnblad (Maddie Baillio) upends segregated Baltimore by winning a dance contest.
“The Crown”
Oscar-winning production designer Martin Childs (“Shakespeare in Love”) utilized showrunner Peter Morgan’s sense of dramatic movement and sharp dialogue to make the private world of Queen Elizabeth II more intimate.

2016 is almost over, and so is President Obama's last year in office.
While the Obama family certainly has charmed us throughout the last eight years, 2016 was extra special -- we saw Michelle shine, Sasha and Malia grow up, and Barack do his best to embarrass his daughters.
Here are the 12 best moments (in no particular order, because how could we ever rate them) from the Obamas' last year in the White House.

Did anyone else get major Victorious flashbacks from Ariana Grande during Hairspray Live! on Wednesday?
PhotosHairspray Live! Performances: Grade ‘Em All!
Before she was topping the charts and getting nominated for Grammys, Grande was killing it on Nickelodeon as one of kid-tv’s most beloved sidekicks (with the lowest Iq), Cat Valentine — and those years of practice paid off in spades during NBC’s live musical.
Whether she was sparring with her mother (Difficult People‘s Andrea Martin!), or following Tracy like a lost (and very confused) puppy, Grande managed to squeeze the most out of every moment — without stealing the spotlight from her co-stars.

What a show! Both Justin Bieber and Deion Sanders brought their A-games to last night's "Lip Sync Battle" -- and by A-games we mean they both channeled their feminine sides and also played dress-up in ridiculous outfits. They sold their performances. But many fans -- even people who would never dream of defending Justin Bieber -- think he may have been robbed of a win. Not that Deion slacked, especially in his "Like a Virgin" crawl. That was magic. But Jb completely committed to his Ozzy impression in "Crazy Train" and pulled a 180 for a cheeky but heartfelt rendition of Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry." Ozzy vs. Madonna was a close one, but when Jb put on his "Big Girl" pants, he slayed Deion's "Play That Funky Music." The Biebs deserved to win just for the stones to open with that "surprise song," as host LL Cool J put it.

Julian Schnabel: The Walk Home The Brant Foundation Art Study Center Opened November 11, 2013
“Must we learn again the simple, forthright experience of actually seeing a painting?” William Gaddis
“In the end, we cultural theorists are the coroners of history, writing our forensic reports on a marble slab table about a murder victim—painting.” Dr. Hope Ardizzone, Cultural Theorist/Author
One might arguably make the case, after viewing Julian Schnabel’s retrospective at The Brant Foundation Art Study Center, that he is the heir to Barnett Newman’s painterly legacy, for no artist since Newman has placed such importance and urgency on the act of painterly gesture. Possibly a stretch, though Schnabel has never shied away from the grand gesture or statement, but given (or despite) the expansiveness of Schnabel's thirty-year career he does come very close to Newman’s ideal of an Artist.

"The Baby Bachelor" isn't the first parody of "The Bachelor" out there. But it is definitely the cutest.
The fake show premiered last Thursday (May 16) and immediately became one of the funnier (and totally the most adorable) sketch ever given to us by "Jimmy Kimmel Live." Starring Jimmy Kimmel's nephew, Wesley, as a love-seeking young gentleman, this parody keeps to all of the standards the "Bachelor" and similar shows have brought.
There are fights. There are "bad girls." There are tears. It's just way more entertaining when all of this comes from toddlers.
While the first episode introduced Wesley and his ladies, the second episode gets to know everyone better with a group date. What important things to we learn?
Khloe is a biter and she eats paste.Eva is a tattle-tale. But not a tattle-pail.Ava is already in love with Wesley.Jesse is not there to make friends.

And now it was all up to the viewers.
Caution: spoilers ahead!
The two-hour show offered soaring, star-making performances from Candice Glover, Amber Holcomb and Angie Miller, who drew standing ovations from judges and admiration from the crowd.
Glover's shimmering and nuanced cover of John Legend's "Ordinary People" earned praise from Mariah Carey, who said it gave her "goosebumps."

Screen Australia usually insists that a traditional theatrical international sales agent is attached to the features in which it invests but it did not for Kath & Kimderella. Instead, sales are being handled by Royalty & Distribution Services, an existing company associated with the producers.
.Was there lots of discussion? Absolutely. But did we prove our case? Absolutely.. So says producer Rick McKenna about the negotiations with Screen Australia.
He argues that if the usual international film sales path had been followed, Kath & Kimderella would have been promoted at .two possibly three. markets, before the sales agent moved on to the next new thing. This way, the title will be exploited much more thoroughly by people closely involved in its production. He says he has encountered a lot of interest in the film and a lot of awareness of the brand, but ultimately everyone says the same thing: .We love you like...

Sharon Needles has been dominating RuPaul’s Drag Race in its first three episodes this season, and of course, there are other strong contestants, like Willam and Phi Phi O’Hara and some of the other sundry queens. But last night on the show’s new episode, “Women Behind Bars,” saw a star who was burning somewhat quietly really brighten up: Latrice Royale.
I’ve loved the big gal since the show opened — and I’ve been rooting for her — but she really turned it on last night in the main challenge, which found the ladies acting out a scene...

While Miley Cyrus isn't the first person to come to mind when making a wishlist of artists to cover Bob Dylan songs, we have to admit -- we're really looking forward to this album.
Miley and a host of her contemporaries have joined forces to pay tribute to both Bob Dylan and Amnesty International with a new cover album. The record, titled "Chimes of Freedom," features a huge variety of artists -- from Pete Seeger to Ke$ha.
"Glee" star Darren Criss even makes a contribution to the four-disc compilation, covering New Morning with his brother, Chuck Criss, and his band the Freelance Whales. The jam-packed album, which "salutes Amnesty International's 50th anniversary and life-saving human rights work," is set for a January 24 release. Check out the list of songs and artists below to see which classic your favorite singer will be covering.

Even at 70 years old, Bob Dylan is still a big deal and one of the most revered singer-songwriters ever –and now some big name musicians, including Adele, Ke$ha, My Morning Jacket and Sting, are preparing to pay their respects on a new tribute album for charity.
Titled Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International, the disc is expected to land on November 21 stateside with proceeds benefiting the human rights group.
Ke$ha will be handling the ’63 tune “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right,” and you may be surprised to discover her enthusiasm for the project. While the collab is sure to have some detractors, Ke$ha defended her love for the icon to Rolling Stone, saying, “When you think of me, you wouldn’t think of Bob Dylan. My music is more crazy than politics. But he’s a...

Speakeasy was rooting for Bob Dylan to win the Nobel Prize in literature. He deserved it just for writing “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “You’re a Big Girl Now,” and “Hurricane,” but on top of that he did actually write an actual book a few years ago. Yesterday, on the strength of a rumor, Dylan had emerged as the top contender for the honor on Ladbrokes, Britain’s largest bookmaker.

It was a pretty special night out - even for the 5-year-old who has everything. On Wednesday night in Los Angeles, Suri Cruise attended the live performance finale of So You Think You Can Dance. While her mom Katie Holmes played guest judge on the show, Suri got her own royal treatment in the audience. Arriving with three other kids and two adults, the daughter of Holmes and Tom Cruise wore a black dress and her hair in a side braid, tied with a purple ribbon. But her most important accessory was a sign she proudly held up with her friends: "We Love You Katie.

Castle fans on hand for the ABC hit’s San Diego Comic-Con panel were treated to — wait for it — the first scene from the Season 4 premiere (airing Sept. 19)! It featured a bleeding Beckett being wheeled into a hospital, clinging to life thanks to the help of her best friend, Lanie.
“I’m very overwhelmed by looking at that scene,” Tamala Jones, who plays Lanie, told the Comic-Con crowd after the screening. “It was very emotional the whole day because my friend’s dying and I’m trying to help save her. I had to stay in the mindset of death all day long.

What's date night like for Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise? "Two years ago he took me up on his P-51 Mustang, a fighter plane from World War II. He painted the words, 'Kiss Me, Kate' on the side," Holmes says in the August issue of InStyle. "It feels like you're on a bike in the sky. I thought, I'm either going to spend this whole flight totally freaked out or realize this is pretty thrilling." When you're married to one of the world's biggest movie stars, whom Holmes calls a "manly romantic," life is bound to be exciting but...

hollywoodnews.com: “Bossip u owe me an apology!” read singer/actress Jennifer Hudson’s Twitter page this morning, following a piece that Bossip.com ran about the Grammy and Academy Award-winning star’s prospects for finding a buyer for her book. Building upon a New York Post article, which reported that Hudson has (unsuccessfully) been shopping a book proposal about her weight loss for some four years, the Bossip article strongly asserted that Hudson could not get a seven figure deal without talking about her tragic past.
In fairness to Bossip, the New York Post article makes the same assertion, saying “But while Hudson’s weight struggle and self-help tips are marketable, sources say because of her $1 million-plus demand for the deal, publishers are holding out for the full story about her coping with the horrific slaying of her family.”

Following her sisters’ forays into fashion, Khloe Kardashian models a face mask for Yrb Magazine like the super-fierce Hannibal Lector she is. After posting the pics on her blog Khloe explains, “This shoot was actually part of the inspiration behind my decision to dye my hair red. I had been considering it, but then the shoot went so well so I decided to go for it that day! I guess I was just in changing mood Lol.” Who knew blending 1 part Conan O’Brien with 3 parts Lady Gaga would turn out such fabulous results? Don’t get any ideas, Gaga…or Conan.
Unfortunately we’ll never know if Khloe took her S&M-themed mask home after the shoot, because hubby Lamar Odom vows the couple will never have a sex-tape. “When people see us in person, they see Khloe’s not small,” Lamar inexplicably told Playboy. “I’m not small...

"American Idol" traditionally sends their Top 10 contestants out on tour when the season ends, so Wednesday's (March 24) results show, which established that Top 10 was a milestone in the "Idol" journey.
Ryan Seacrest sent Tim Urban and Paige Miles to the bottom three early in the show, which was no surprise. Both singers were in the bottom three last week as well, and their performances on Tuesday night (March 23) left a lot to be desired (to put it mildly).
Miley Cyrus proved herself worthy of her mentor title with a performance of "When I Look at You," the song from her upcoming movie, "The Last Song." Say what you will about Miley's music, clothes, or twitter abandonment, the girl knows how to rock a stage and connect with an audience (even if her audience is sitting at home watching on TV).

Last week, Sam and Dean broke up the band, right? This week… the band's still broken up. And these guys seriously need to put on their Big Girl Panties and man up so they can stop the Apocalypse, damn it! I'm over the Angst — let's get these guys back together so they can kick ass and take names. But we're not quite there yet.
This week, Sam and his Ginormous Shoulders wake up shirtlessly (that's a word, shuddup) in a hotel room not quite alone. Jess (Adrianne Palicki) is hanging out on his bed, complete with White Nightgown of Doooom. With no mention of why the hell she was standing on that streetcorner at the end of 'Bloody Mary' (thanks, Kripke… jeeze), she proceeds to lay the guilt trip on Sam by telling him that whatever he's feeling is deep down inside of him and he can't change who he is.
