Mostly mediocre with some bad moments Warning: Spoilers
This is another German 90-minute television movie, like there are so many right now. It's pretty much exactly 10 years old today and deals with two couples traveling to Greece for their holidays. Oh yeah they also bring their kids. It becomes obvious right away that at the end of the film they will have switched partners and the way to that final state is rarely funny or dramatically relevant, even if the filmmakers try so hard to get this movie going. The director is fairly experienced and so is half of the writer duo (very prolific for "Tatort" and other crime series), but this just never becomes an interesting film. There is usually one nice indicator that can be used to determine how good the writing is and that's the children. In most films they really just make witty or cute statements here and there, while in quality films they are elaborated on nicely and all their actions make sense. Not so in this one. The most pathetic moment is maybe when that one boy is allegedly stuck between two girls and everything that has to do with it. Then again, the adults aren't much better. Jaenicke and especially Kirchberger have good recognition value, but they simply aren't great actors at all. That is one reason why all the drama near the end is fairly ridiculous and not in a good way. The negative highlight is the wedding at the end, which is a perfect example for a movie that sacrifices all realism and everything credible that happened before for a cringeworthy feel-good ending. A 4 out of 10 was really generous here. Not recommended.
