When Malloy goes into the burning room to rescue the unconscious victim, he takes his hat off and places it on the burning bed then carries the victim out. In the next scene he is taking a report, his hat is on his head and shows no signs of being in a fire.
The officers say without the stolen car's license number it will be very tough finding it. Knowing the car's owner and that it's a '58 Ford, they could get the plate number very easily.
After taking the report of the stolen car and meeting up with other officers in the middle of a street, Reed and Malloy are driving down the road when Reed says he smells smoke. He quickly tells Malloy that the smoke is coming from a certain direction. However, the car windows are up and there would be no way to tell where the smoke originated from while driving with windows up.
The unconscious man on the bed lifts his arm as Malloy lifts him off the bed.
When Malloy searched the car for the snake, he used his .38 to lift a blanket. It would probably be inadvisable to shoot his service revolver into the trunk with the gas tank located below it.
While questioning the car theft suspect Malloy breaks the 4th wall by glancing at the camera.
