Battling The Danes.
Sleepin_Dragon23 April 2023
King Arthur is aware of a forthcoming attack from a group of marauding Danes, Merlin is fearful for a nearby Abbey, a simple place of learning, a soft target for the warring Danes, Sir Lancelot is sent to protect them.

It's certainly different, all sorts of history on show this one, good to see a bunch of Danes invading. The costumes looked rather good. Some of the sets here, unlike the previous few I watched, looked a little bit dodgy, but overall it looks really nice.

Father Till has to be my favourite character on this show so far, he was a wild old fellow, totally over the top, wonderfully bonkers, perfectly played by Edward Malin, well known for appearing on The Benny Hill show, but for me best known as Walter on Nearest and Dearest.

It's amusing, the way Till refers to Merlin as a young fellow, it's hilarious. I liked the way the monks got wrapped up in their battle cries, so funny.

7/10.

The Magic Book

King Arthur is wary of Danish invaders who could invade England.

It seems Vikings were about in Arthurian times.

As always Lancelot volunteers to defend an Abbey at risk of attack. Arthur relies on not just the bravery of his knights, he wants brains as well.

Merlin provides the brains. Not by sorcery but knowledge from the books in the Abbey. It might be all Greek to some but Merlin knows enough to help repel the Danes.

A sly episode emphasising on the importance of learning, something the Danes had no interest in.

Plenty of styrofoam sets were damaged in the making of this episode.
