- Oskar Winters, the manager of a lamp factory (which belongs to his spouse Martha Winters) is traveling in the night train from Hamburg to Munich with his secretary ,Karin Meyrat.They have a love affair, but they travel in separated compartments.About 40 minutes before the arrival at Munich the sleeping car employee wants to wake up Karin Meyrat, but he found her dead.Immediately he reports the death to the chief of the train who reports the case to the police of Munich.When the train arrives a Munich all the passengers must show their identity documents,Mr.Oskar Winters says that Karin Meyrat was his secretary.Dorie Thiele, the roommate of Karin has arrived at the train station and is very sad.The medical examiner explains that Karin has been strangulated.In the same night Mrs Martha Winters had a supper with Robert Dorr, an executive of the factory and they talk about the management of the factory.At the police station Oskar Winter says that he didn't visit Karin in her compartment and repeats that their relationship was only professional.Henry Johnson meets Doris Thiele who says him that Oskar Winters promised Karin to marry her, but he couldn't speak about that,because there was a clause in the testament of his father-in-law with a record date.—zutterjp48
