A young man who has a trouble past is given a second chance, working at Wally's service station. This is where Gomer works. Unfortunately, as soon as he begins his employment, the place is robbed, not once but twice. There are some very funny things having to do with Barney's efforts to stake the place out. Of course, with he and Gomer in charge, it's a disaster. We do get to see Andy's patience and good faith in his fellow human being.

Early Gomer

We are all thankful that Jim Nabors abandoned his early Gomer accent for the one we all now know.

It just seems weird hearing him experimenting that version.

Very funny Barney & Gomer scenes

The story has a plot. But, it's secondary to the Barney & Gomer hijinks. The camera setup, then photo reveal are very funny. Series best Andy sneaking in listening to them teasing Barney about his corny love poems to "down to her feet" Juanita. Gomer here doesn't know that a carburetor doesn't go on the outside of a car. Soon, he'll be poof... a master auto mechanic. Quick look at classic sitcom regular Johnny Silver. Willis Bouchey (Mr Carter) always a townsfolk never had the same name in many appearances. Gomer is literally braindead in his early appearances. Which makes great comedy.
