It's about average for season one
planktonrules8 January 2007
When Babylon 5 first began, the show VERY slowly began to reveal that there were some themes and plot lines that would make the show less of a series and more like one giant story. However, in the first season, this overarching vision wasn't always apparent and many of the shows seemed unrelated to each other. Because of this, the early episodes, in most cases, were inferior to those of season two and later.

This episode is one that explains more of the back story of Garibaldi. When he is framed for sabotage, we see that eventually he degenerates to self-pity and alcoholism, as that was the way he handled things in the past. However, given that he is a flawed character that is evolving and improving, he ultimately is able to gain control over himself and his innocence is proved. Yay. Not a bad episode, but also not a particularly great one either.

Survivors
Scarecrow-8810 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Bonafide Garibaldi fugitive episode where the Chief of Security of Babylon 5 has been framed for a docking bay explosion that kills a worker in the area of said explosion. "Survivors" not only examines the character Garibaldi, his troubled past, bouts of alcoholism, the loss of a dear friend due to criminals out to get him, the daughter of mentioned friend who holds a grudge against him, and the numerous conversations he has with the likes of Mollari and G'Kar (the latter offering Garibaldi refuge if he'll betray his people!), but also gives us a great look at all the many areas of Babylon 5 station as he tries to remain one step ahead of agents of Presidential Security Chief, Major Lianna Kemmer (Elaine Thomas, in a rather ice-cold performance) out to nab him. You see, right before his death, the docking bay worker named Garibaldi as the one responsible for the explosion. Kemmer, Sinclair, Doc Franklin, and Kemmer's top agent, Cutter (the slimy Tom Donaldson, whose very air and presence labels him questionable) were the only ones present when this man, Nolan, named Garibaldi as the person behind the bay explosion. Even worse is the fact that certain evidence is found in Garibaldi's quarters tying him to the explosion. The key to Garibaldi's innocence is uncovering who planted the evidence implicating him…this will not be hard, trust me. This episode is more about Garibaldi and Kemmer's coming to terms with Frank's death (Frank was Garibaldi's best friend and Lianna's father), and the two trying to mend broken fences that have kept them at a distance. The good news is that while it appears that no mending will take place, their wreckage of a relationship may not be totally irreparable. Garibaldi wants Lianna to accept his deep apologies and regrets for Frank's demise and his own frailties (especially his alcoholism and running away after Frank's death when Lianna's family needed him the most), but will she be willing to let go of the hurt and pain and accept them? There's lots of action as Garibaldi constantly evades those out to arrest him, as well as, fight off criminals out to harm him (he has indeed made enemies on Babylon station as the chief of security). He has a strong scene with Mollari, not to mention, a heated scene with G'Kar. I personally enjoyed this episode although it is rather predictable and familiar to the typical fugitive storyline where a hero character must clear his name while on the lam. How Sinclair and Ivanova back up Garibaldi is a testament to their loyalty and respect for their friend and colleague. His innocence is never doubted, it is only a matter of how to discover who framed him and why. Home Guard, the alien-hate group who are willing to destroy the president in a terrorist attack because he supports "alien immigration and a freer trade with different species", returns to the Babylon 5 show in a storyline.

Garibaldi: The Fugitive
Tweekums17 June 2018
Following an explosion, shortly before a visit from the Earth President, the head of the presidential security detail tries to take over the investigation. Garibaldi, who used to know her objects, but when evidence emerges pointing to Garibaldi's involvement he suddenly finds himself a fugitive with few friends to turn to and plenty of enemies keen to settle old scores.

This was an enjoyable episode for many reasons. There is the mystery of who really caused the explosion and why... I'm sure nobody really thought it was Garibaldi. There is the question of how Garibaldi will final prove his innocence. And there is plenty of back story explaining why Garibaldi is the man he is. We get some decent action scenes; mostly fights involving Garibaldi. Jerry Doyle does a fine job as he takes centre stage as Garibaldi; he makes the character believable as things get progressively worse for him. Guest star Elaine Thomas also impresses as Major Lianna Kemmer, a character who once looked up to Garibaldi but now blames him for the death of her father seventeen years previously. The final resolution isn't too obvious and ultimately turns out to be connected to previously mentioned events thus elevating this from being a standalone episode. Overall a pretty good episode.

An interesting episode
batmanforever-932492 April 2020
This episode is a good one and the first realistic instectoid species from a tv show from 90's appears (an inspiration for creators of pilot for Andromeda ) as one of the many aliens species , alongside one species who is looking exactly like Saru from Star Trek Discovery .This series is probably the most ripped off series until 2020 ,even the new Battlestar Galactica copied the uniforms from the first season and Star Trek Deep Space Nine is made after the idea of B5 creator who was rejected by the Star Trek producers .
