The settings are a nice change of pace for the show.

A member of a company's board of directors apparently has found some discrepancies and as you know, this means he'll be dead before he can take action about this! In this case, he is flying a small plane...not knowing that there's someone already in the plane. This person knocks out the victim and then parachutes away...leaving the plane to crash into the mountains.

Barnaby is called in by the head of the company and he finds a lot of resistance from some of the employees (Murray Hamilton and Richard Anderson). Are either of these men involved in some murder and coverup or is there some other person who is the mastermind?

The episode is a bit more exciting than usual thanks to the setting. Seeing planes crash and parachutists is pretty cool and a nice change of pace. As for the story, it's well written and well worth seeing.

Great suspense, "Who Done It?" One flaw keeps me from giving it 10 Stars

This is a really good "Who Done It?" show. Unless you watch the opening scene very, very closely, you don't get any clue as to which of the Suspects caused the plane to crash.

The only issue is one scene where Barnaby Jones is almost killed in an "accident". Come on, that kind of destruction, and the person looking directly at Jones right after it happened acts like "So what... it was just an accident"?

Dinged it 1 star, I rate "Fatal Flight" 9 stars.

FLYING WITH SOME TRUE VILLAINS
tcchelsey3 November 2023
Calvin Clements, Jr., who wrote 11 episodes for the series, may have outdid all of them with this whodunit. It is that good, bordering on a COLUMBO mystery, and that's saying a lot. Let's all not forget that BARNABY JONES was up against Columbo in the ratings race on Sunday nights. It was a close race.

An executive who apparently knows "the score" about some crooked dealings at his company, conveniently dies in a plane crash. Two prominent suspects come before Barnaby, the likes of Murray Hamilton and Richard Anderson, two super suspicious characters we love to hate.

Clements borrowed a bit from CANNON and MANNIX as you will also notice that Barnaby experiences some close brushes with death, and more frequently. In an earlier episode, surprisingly, he was nearly shot in the back and SHOULD have been killed. I stand by that one 100 percent.

Pippa Scott plays Jane, a multi-talented actress, either cast a victim or a nasty villainess. Look for Joan Tompkins (as Miss Wilson), a popular veteran actress, best known as Katie's real cool mom on MY THREE SONS. Joan always reminded me of Rosemary DeCamp, who also played some great tv moms and grandmoms.

Try to figure this one out, and with lots of late, late night snacks. SEASON 2 EPISODE 12 remastered CBS dvd box set.
