Some of the exterior scenes with Edward Hewitt and Victoria Barkley in the wagon are filmed at historic Vasquez Rocks, the diagonally sloped rock formations used in many films. When Edward and Victoria are supposed to be traveling for hours, they keep going by Vasquez Rocks over and over.
To the end, after Hewitt and Victoria have regained the wagon, the bandits start shooting before either can see each other. Hewitt and Victoria are talking when there are two shots. Victoria turns and looks back just as the first bandit comes around the rocks that had previously been hiding them from view. So, either these are the most inept bandits ever, who just shoot randomly before they can even see their quarry, let alone before they have even seen their target, or the editors gravely erred in splicing the film.
