A Woman's Perspective
mitchrmp8 December 2012
Grant Mowery is drunk and ready for a fight, and he gets it. But Marshal Scott's shot isn't enough to kill him. He stays alive long enough to have Clay draw up a will for him. His estate will be split three ways - Marshal Scott is the third party. Obvious to the reason, Clay decides to try and save the Marshal's life and figure out what to do.

Two mean men ride into town, wanting to collect their inheritance, which currently is taking up residence in an old suitcase found in a hotel room.

The plot was pretty darn ingenious. I haven't seen this story too often, though something sort of similar occurred in The Rifleman.

There are a lot of witty sayings in this episode, which always makes it more entertaining.

Two dead, one wounded.

Grant Mowery (Simon Oakland) is drunk the the saloon and looking for trouble with anyone. He even ruins a game of cards.

Mowery ends up drawing against Marshal Scott and lose. As he lays dying he asks Clay Culhane to draw up a will.

Mowery splits his estate three ways, one third going to Marshal Scott, the man he did not know and has just shot him.

Clay realises that the other two men. Coley Dakins and Pit Thatcher could ride into town and shoot the Marshall for his share to go to them.

They both do ride into town and try to rile the Marshall to get into a gunfight. After all, if the Marshall shoots them both dead. He will inherit everything.

However the Marshall learns that Mowery's money came from a bank robbery. He needs to arrest the other two.

Clay offers to help but the Marshall rebuffs his offer.

Not a story where the Marshall comes off well. In fact he acts a bit stupid, maybe he could had requested some assistance. He definitely needed Clay's help.
