A Woman's Perspective
mitchrmp31 December 2012
Murdock is an evil, twisted man who is on trial for killing a minister. He has a step-son who is terrified of him and finally admits that he did see his step-father kill the minister. There's a small twist in that he also injured a woman. She's barely hanging on but is on the brink of death.

Double jeopardy is a popular law that we all know about. Marshal Scott acts as if he's never heard of it in this episode, but in a previous episode I believe he explained it to someone else. This is one of those times that he hates being a marshal and abiding by the law. If ever there was a time for the law to be broken, it was now.

The man is pure evil. He knows he can shout out on the street that he killed the preacher and no one can do anything about it. He even beats his son. The man is pure evil!

Two people die in this episode.

Warning: Spoilers
The one where Marshal Gib Scott has not heard about the double jeopardy law.

Ab Murdock broke into a church to rob the money it has raised. He killed the priest and left another woman seriously injured.

Clay Culhane defends him and he is found not guilty by a jury of the murder of the priest. His stepson Tad later informs the Marshal that Murdock did commit the crime, his alibi was not entirely correct.

Only the judge to tell Marshal that Murdock cannot be tried again. Murdock now openly taunts Marshal Gib Scott as well as threaten his stepson.

So much so, the Marshal hands in his badge and then gaud Murdock to a shootout.

However when the injured woman later dies, Clay Culhane is sure that Murdock can be arrested again and face another trial.

Nice to see a frustrated Marshal. The town reeling from the injustice of it all but really Clay Culhane needs to teach the Marshal some basics of criminal law.
