Earp turns bad guy
lor_8 February 2024
Hugh O'Brian creates an indelible character as a heel for a change -yes, the Wyatt Earp of TV legend can play bad guy with great skill.

He's cast as a big star who decides to stage a publicity stunt making a parachute jump with the military, but he has nightmares about just such an action. His past catches up with him, as accompanying him on the plane is an old Army buddy who holds a grudge against him, and he's in store for a dramatic reunion with the girl who got away, and married his buddy (turned adversary) instead of him.

Very fine performances in support by Lloyd Bridges as the army sergeant, Constance Towers as his wife and especially by Sorrell Booke as his loyal but abused public relations man. Script by Rod Serling is not in the fantasy genre and is quite rounded in its sympathies, a very fine piece of drama.
