Officer Frank Poncherello : [catches himself just in time] Hold it. What is this?
Officer Melanie Mitchell : Uh, well, where do we go from here?
Officer Frank Poncherello : We do what we came here to do. You get dressed and I'm gonna take a cold shower.
Officer Melanie Mitchell : I know things like this shouldn't happen, but...
Officer Frank Poncherello : Didn't happen.
Officer Melanie Mitchell : Didn't happen?
Officer Frank Poncherello : It *did*, but it *can't*. The worst thing that could happen. So forget it, right? You still have to ride out your shift. Come on, go fix yourself up.
Officer Melanie Mitchell : On your right, huh?
Officer Frank Poncherello : Yeah, always on my right.
Officer Melanie Mitchell : This place *is* beginning to feel like home.

Officer Frank Poncherello : Melanie...
Officer Melanie Mitchell : Listen, don't stop shouting at me because of... You know. I mean, *shout* if I goof up. Really. Shout if I get out of line again. I won't take it personally. I know better now.
Officer Jon Baker : Melanie, you ride with me today.
Officer Melanie Mitchell : You?
Officer Frank Poncherello : Paula, on my right!
Officer Paula Woods : How come?
Officer Frank Poncherello : We're training, that's how come!
[the pair rides off]
Officer Melanie Mitchell : [to Jon] Well, who's idea was this? Yours or his?
Officer Jon Baker : Look, Ponch wants you to get past Category 1 without any, uh... personal complications, okay?
Officer Melanie Mitchell : You traded us... like comic books.
Officer Frank Poncherello : Hey, listen, did you hear anything I said?
Officer Melanie Mitchell : No.
Officer Jon Baker : [nods] All right, let's go to work. You're on my left.
[starts engine, pulls away]
Officer Melanie Mitchell : Well,
[shakes her head]
Officer Melanie Mitchell : you are different.
