This debut episode of Cade's County guest stars Darren McGavin and Loretta Swit as a pair of people who were hot stuff back in high school in Madrid County but never quite lived up to their potential. Glenn Ford whom they went to school with by contrast has now succeeded his father as sheriff.

What Ford doesn't know is that is his former rival has ratcheted up the rivalry. He's a contract killer who has to take out Ford and two other people because they were witnesses to a mob hit.

Swit is a sad late forty something woman who never caught any breaks and McGavin is one consciousless killer. Great performances.

Good beginning to the Cade's County series.

ALL THIS AND MANCINI, TOO

With a cast headed by veteran screen actor Glenn Ford and assisted by good old standby Edgar Buchanan with special guest star, TV's Mike Hammer, Darren McGavin, and theme music by Academy Award winner Henry Mancini, you know yiu are on a winner with Cade's County. Also listed in the credits is Myron Healey, a ubiquitous heavy of film and television, but if you blink you may miss him. I actually hsd to scan through it again to find him. Myron Healey, check out his filmography, he appeared in just about every TV show that was ever made. No wonder he never had his own show- he was too busy making guest appearances

Cade's County

Warning: Spoilers
I remember this TV show when I was a kid, in the early seventies. It never aired again. So what a luck to me to get them again through the US suppliers. I love the credit score. Even after all those 40 years I still can whistle it !!

Glenn Ford is the perfect character for this crime western TV show. In this episode the bad guy is no one else but Darren Mac Gavin, who plays the Glenn Ford's old time buddy from war in Korea. The sub characters are well described, the screen play is not only focused on the lead.

I intend to watch the whole TV series again. And I am sure that I will comment many others. It's funny, because I now watch another TV show that is very like Cade's County: STATE TROOPER, starring Rod Cameron.

And, back to Cade's County, we find the Glenn Ford - Edgard Buchanan tandem, who play together some decades earlier in George Marchall's westerns Texas, DESPERADOES...

So long, folks.
