"You never know who's going to show up to help you when you're digging for treasure."

Warning: Spoilers
The highlight for a lot of fans might be that there are two prolonged scenes in which Cheyenne Bodie is shirtless, maybe the most of any episode. But agreeable as those minutes are, this story has other significant merits too.

Cheyenne and Chip Claney (Myron Healey) scouted for the Army and then went into a successful freight business together. Somewhere along the way, Chip became an alcoholic and his wife Alice (Joanna Barnes) became infatuated with Cheyenne, which only exacerbated the addiction that fueled her husband's resentment toward his longtime friend. Cheyenne decides it's time to move on. Despite Chip's claim that they would soon be rich and thereby justify his wife's patience, Alice begs Cheyenne to take her with him. But shortly after, Chip is shot, and Cheyenne is under a cloud of suspicion. He's alibied by a retired Army major named King Forest, who wants Cheyenne to take Chip's place and lead him to a mine where a million dollars in diamonds will make them all rich. The scenario involving that mine sounds familiar and might mean that Chip's fantasy of fabulous wealth wasn't a fantasy after all. However, when Cheyenne decides he doesn't need the major's help to find it, the freight office is mysteriously burned down along with his supplies, so he has no choice but to lead Forest to the treasure for a share of the profits.

Among those who show up when they're digging for the treasure are a mysterious stranger in black and a band of Apaches. Showing foresight, Cheyenne uses the major's cigars to make a deal with the Indians that would later save lives. In the meantime, there's a lot of digging going on in the mine and when the "treasure" is finally found, Major Forest shows his true colors. It all works out, though, and again Cheyenne is able to leave at least some of the principals better off than he found them. Alice doesn't get to ride off into the sunset with him but he makes sure her future is secure; gentleman that he is, Cheyenne Bodie was always looking out for the interests of the ladies in his life. The cast is excellent, the details of the story by Fredric M. Frank and N. Richard Nash are convincing, and the outcome satisfying. Once again, Clint Walker is the heart of the show, and his legion of fans wouldn't have it any other way.
