Tom's no nonsense boss, the chairman of his magazine's board, Cissy Drummond-Randolph (Tippi Hedren, Hitchcock's "The Birds" and "Marnie") has returned from her soul-searching trip to the rain forest. He is hosting a cocktail party in her honor. Her perspective on life has changed and she is much more relaxed. Cissy doesn't try to hide her attraction to Tom and asks him to move to New York as her partner. He tells her he must think it over. Meanwhile, Eddie is mingling with some of the inebriated male guests to comedic effect. Tina is highly nervous to be around Cissy who she feels she is competing with as a woman. Cissy befriends Mrs. Livingston and suggests to Tom that she will be still be important to them in New York. Tom feels a bit overwhelmed and sees perhaps Cissy still possesses her controlling nature. On the balcony, Norman suggests to Tom that if she is merely after a fling, perhaps he will do. Comic relief is found in a reoccurring milquetoast party guest (familiar character actor John Fiedler) who doesn't trust the hor d'oeuvres are the foods they appear to be. "How do you know it's not a piece of liver that tastes like a prune?" Another party guests comically talks of how she gets piercings when she gets depressed. By the end of the party Tom will have a proposal of his own.
One of the funniest episodes of the series to this point. Fun to see how the party meant different things to each. The central storyline was good, but I personally found it secondary to the above observations.
