Beauty is not always in the eye of the beholder.

It's very ironic that about a month before this episode aired, "Golden Girls" had a similar scenario where the vain Blanche Devereaux found herself seeing Edward Winter who Happened to be blind. There are similar situations between both shows (that focused on a group of women in close contact) where a plot from one show would be seen later on the other, not necessarily with one show copying the other, but curiously ironic none the less.

Both sitcoms show a woman so consumed with their beauty and finds that someone who likes them actually likes them for themselves and has no idea what they look like. For Suzanne, it's wealthy Tom Sullivan, and all of the women are charmed by him in spite of something that he has no control over. Suzanne must reach into herself to put aside the physical for the emotional, and she finds that she really enjoys spending time withhim in spite of the fact that he doesn't constantly gush over how she looks. This shows a more humble side of Suzanne that she only rarely presented.

There's another great moment between Anthony and Suzanne where she is able to let herself go with him, and Julia realizes that Suzanne is afraid someone who can't see her looks can see her for who she really is. This shows the real insecurities in Suzanne's personality which really makes her endearing when you really get to know her, and that's great writing. As for the other characters, they also get some great moments, particularly Charlene who is caught early on in the episode lip syncing to a skipped record of "Signed, Sealed, Delivered". The only issue I find with episodes like this is that the guest character always ends up being a one-shot deal so there really is never a storyline finale, just a plot resolution.
